Offense
Rushing
DeMarco Murray needs another 134 yards to pass Julius Jones (3,484) and move in to 9th position on the Cowboys career rushing yards list.
DeMarco Murray needs another 141 yards to pass Herschel Walker (3,491) and move in to 8th position on the Cowboys career rushing yards list.
Receiving:
Jason Witten needs 2 receptions to become the first Cowboy player to reach 900 career receptions

Terrance Williams needs another 40 yards to pass 1,000 career yards receiving for the Cowboys.
Special Teams
Dwayne Harris needs another two punt returns to pass Cliff Harris (66) and move in to 9th spot on the Cowboys career punt returns.
Dan Bailey needs another attempt of a field goals of 50 yards or longer to pass Rafael Septien (19) for 1st place in that category.

Result:
It is the battle of the run games between the number one and two ranked rushing teams in the NFL. The advantage the Seahawks have here is that their rushing defense ranks #1. No team yet has been able to control the Cowboys OL and DeMarco Murray.
The Cowboys should get this one in a low scoring game 14-10

Dan Bailey becomes the NFL's most successful field goal kicker of all-time.

On kicking his first field goal today Bailey was eligible to enter the list of the most successful kickers of all time. To enter the list a kicker had to convert at least 100 field goal attempts.

After todays game Baileys success rate is 91.07 percent. Which is about 5 percent higher then the #2 kicker Vanderjagt.

Gosselin: 2014 Cowboys reminiscent of Dallas' Super Bowl teams from '90s

SEATTLE — Dez Bryant has been compared to Michael Irvin ever since he arrived in Dallas and donned that jersey number 88.
Irvin was the quantity catcher, the Hall of Famer, the self-proclaimed “Playmaker.” He was the go-to guy for Troy Aikman. And Bryant has become the go-to guy and quantity catcher for Tony Romo.
But there’s a worthy comparison on the other flank. As much as Irvin dominated during the Super Bowl era of the Cowboys, Aikman needed Alvin Harper to round out the offense. And Romo needs Terrance Williams to round out this offense.
Strip the 80 off Harper and the 83 off Williams and watch the tape. They are the same player two decades apart. And just as Harper broke the backs of defenses with long plays, Williams is making those same big plays to help resurrect these Cowboys as Super Bowl contenders.
Williams made arguably the two biggest plays in the Cowboys’ stunning 30-23 upset of the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
After Seattle took a 20-17 lead on a field goal by Steven Hauschka midway through the third period, the Cowboys heard the crowd turn at the NFL’s loudest stadium and knew they needed to answer.
So Romo sent Williams deep down the right sideline on first down. Williams made a leaping grab over Seattle cornerback Marcus Burley for a 47-yard gain. That moved the Cowboys to the Seattle 34, silenced the crowd and set up the tying field goal.
Then after Seattle took a 23-20 lead midway through the fourth quarter, the Cowboys found themselves in a third-and-20 from their own 31. Romo escaped pressure, spun out of the pocket and fired a pass at the far sideline that Williams snagged on his fingertips with his tippy-toes barely inbounds.
It went for a 23-yard gain to the Seattle 46, again silenced the crowd and kept alive the drive for DeMarco Murray’s winning touchdown.
“Whenever Tony rolls,” Williams said, “the play is just beginning. You have to find the best way for him to get you the ball. If you’re short, go deep. If you’re deep, come back short. When I saw him rolling, I knew the sideline was the safest place for him to throw the ball.”
Those were the only two receptions of the day for Williams. But he earned his paycheck with those plays.
Back in 1992, when the Cowboys won their first Super Bowl, Irvin caught twice as many passes as Harper. But Harper turned in the biggest play of the season — a 70-yard reception in the NFC title game at San Francisco that put away the 49ers and started a dynasty in motion.
Harper added TD grabs of 42 yards in the 1993 NFC title game against the 49ers and 94 yards in a 1994 NFC playoff game against Green Bay. He averaged 21.6 yards per catch in 1993 and 24.9 in 1994. The Cowboys didn’t need him often — not with Irvin catching everything on the other side — but when they did, Harper delivered. He had 12 grabs of 40-plus yards from 1992-94.
And that’s the role Williams now plays for the Cowboys.
Williams only caught 44 passes as a rookie in 2013 — less than half as many as Bryant — but he led the team with his 16.7-yard average. He scored touchdowns of 80 yards against Denver and 60 yards against Detroit and also slapped a 51-yarder on the Redskins.
This season he numbers a 43-yarder against Houston and those two big ones against Seattle among his 18 catches. He’s averaging 17.8 yards per grab with five touchdowns. Like Harper, he knows his role in this offense.
And like Harper, he’s excelling in that role.
“With Tony, you have to always stay ready,” Williams said. “Even if he doesn’t throw you the ball in the first half — or if he doesn’t look for you the first three quarters — you have to keep positive so that when he does throw you the ball, you’re always ready.”
Defenses are going to focus on Bryant every week. So Williams must take advantage of his matchups. Seattle’s Pro Bowl cornerback Richard Sherman couldn’t play both sides of the field Sunday.
The Cowboys have flashed their offense all season long on the way to that 5-1 start. They have flashed their resurgent defense on a weekly basis as well. But on this day the Cowboys flashed their depth with Williams and backup runners Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar all making key contributions in scoring drives against their toughest of foes.
Randle had a 38-yard run that set up the Cowboys for their first score after they fell behind 10-0. Dunbar had receptions of 21 and 18 yards to set up a second-quarter touchdown that gave the Cowboys their first lead at 17-10.
The youth, talent and depth of this team is starting to remind me of those Cowboys teams two decades ago.

Cowboys educate players on Ebola

The Cowboys have talked to their players about Ebola.

Vice president Stephen Jones said that Jim Maurer, the team’s head athletic trainer, has educated the players on the disease.

“Jim has made them aware of it,’’ Jones said. “The league has sent some things out that he has made them aware of.

“The biggest thing is so they are educated and understand where it is. It’s just education.’’

Lawsuit against Jones dismissed
Updated: October 16, 2014, 1:18 PM ET
By Todd Archer | ESPN.com

IRVING, Texas -- A former stripper's lawsuit against Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has been dismissed.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had been accused by a former stripper of sexual assault. The "allegations were false," Jones' lawyer said. "This case is over."

Jana Weckerly had been seeking more than $1 million in damages from Jones and the Cowboys after an alleged incident at a Dallas hotel in 2009. Photos surfaced over the summer of Jones in compromising positions, but he said the pictures were a "misrepresentation" of what happened.

"We are pleased with the court's judgment against Ms. Weckerly," Jones attorney Levi McCathern said. "Ms. Weckerly's allegations were false. This case is over."

According to the court papers, Weckerly can "take nothing" from Jones and the Cowboys.

Attorneys for Jones had argued that the suit should be dismissed because the Oklahoma woman waited too long to file it. The suit accused Jones of grabbing Weckerly's genitals and kissing her without her consent. She also accused Jones, the team and McCathern of conspiring to keep her quiet by paying her hush money for at least four years.

Jones, the team and McCathern denied all of the allegations.

"We don't contest the judgment entered by the court," said Thomas Bowers, Weckerly's attorney. "And neither Jerry Jones or the Cowboys organization has paid us any money".

Cowboys waive DT and LB

The Cowboys have waived veteran LB Korey Toomer and rookie DT Ken Bishop.

Toomer who was signed this season had not made it on to the defensive or special teams stats list. Bishop had been active in three games this season making just two tackles.

Cowboys-Giants key matchup: DE Spencer vs. RT Pugh

BY DREW DAVISON
ddavison@star-telegram.com

Cowboys defensive end Anthony Spencer vs. Giants right tackle Justin Pugh: Spencer had his most promising game last week against Seattle, and appears to be on the verge of his first breakout game since returning from microfracture surgery on his left knee. Pugh, meanwhile, is coming off arguably the worst game of his life, allowing six sacks. Spencer couldn’t ask for a better matchup this week

I can’t believe it; Cowboys look a lot like ’90s dynasty team

By Bob Sturm

What stood out to you in this game?
The Cowboys were in an NFC street fight and came out at the right end of things. They are physically ready to deal with any challenge in the trenches. It’s a great departure from what we’ve seen for many years. But it’s not a departure from what we’ve seen the past few weeks. This team can’t be bullied. The past two weeks teams have tried to stop them, but the Cowboys kept marching along.

On DeMarco Murray’s performance:
The fact that he is trusting his line is a big part of his effectiveness. But you have to have an appreciation for how his total game has grown this year. It starts with his decisiveness. He sees where he wants to go by the time Tony Romo hands it to him with no hesitation. In pass protection, he’s almost been perfect. He’s looking to punish any defensive back who tries to tackle him. You’re seeing easily the best year of his career. Now we’re seeing historical measurement with some of the players he’s been shown with — staggering and mind boggling the names he’s being mixed with.

Is it legitimate to compare Murray to Emmitt Smith?
Those ’90s Cowboys comparisons always make me nervous. Clearly that was a dynasty which had to accomplish an awful lot before we got carried away with historical record. The style which the Cowboys offense operates now, it’s uncanny how it resembles the style of that (’90s) offense. It’s a run-first offense that is physical, not trying to trick you, but trying to maul you. It has a quarterback who is operating when called on with precision and a dominant wide receiver that will not allow you take a ball away from him. If you don’t squint and see a little bit of triplets, perhaps you’re doing better than I can. It’s uncanny. The style they resemble are those Dallas Cowboys. I can’t believe I just said that.

Are you worried about his workload?
Absolutely, I think the fact that he’s on pace for more carries than any running back in the history of the sport has to give one pause. Murray hasn’t played a full season without injury in the NFL. At the same time, I don’t know the alternative. He’s red hot, the team is red hot and he is showing no real signs of diminishing performance at this point. So while the risk is certainly there. this team is just doing what any team would do: Continue to call the plays that are working.

On if Murray’s backups would do as well:
I don’t think Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar would be replicating this performance. The offensive line is tremendous, but it would be a mistake to undersell Murray in all of this.

On Dez Bryants performance:
I think the greatest part about Dez and Murray, and maybe this entire team right now, is this unbridled confidence that nobody is going to defend them on any given snap. This is a team the past decade that has never owned a lot of confidence or swagger when it comes to showdown games or giant situations in games. In a weird way, they’ve almost taken on Dez’s personality by refusing to be defeated in any one-on-one battle. A lot of his teammates will talk about his infectious personality. He never took a down off when I watched him at training camp. Honestly, at the time I was watching those camp battles, I never considered the fact that it may be infecting the entire team. But now, it all seems to come back to his example being followed. The competitiveness and confidence, you also see it with the defensive backs who challenge every pass. Everyone is making them beat them, rather than risk aversion tactics in the past. They’re playing confrontational football.

On the Cowboys’ defense:
It started once again with limiting the ability for the opponent to move the chains. The Giants — like several of their previous opponents — had a difficult time sustaining drives. They were under 40 percent on third downs. If you can do that and keep the running game from gaining a foothold, then your defenders can be more aggressive. Then you win time of possession yet again by a healthy margin. There’s not a lot of sacks, but only spending 59 plays out there follow their recipe for success.

On forcing turnovers:
The highlights will show three different times the Cowboys ripped the ball out of the Giants’ hands and they should have been given the ball all three times. The Cowboys were robbed by a premature whistle (Terrell McClain forcing a fumble). I don’t know how the ball wasn’t given to the Cowboys, even when the whistle blew, McClain had the ball in his arms.

What was most impressive about the win?
The most impressive part of this particular win is that the Giants did answer the physical battle well for most of the game. I think this is one of those games that tests your will. It was not easy. The Giants do have ideas on how to limit your power. Jason Pierre-Paul did quite a number on Tyron Smith. The game required a little more intestinal fortitude than we thought going in. They are willing to get into a three-hour street fight and emerge with a victory.

On tight end Gavin Escobar’s two receiving touchdowns:
Yet another weapon being unleashed. It shows us yet again that (offensive play-caller) Scott Linehan has fresh ideas that were badly needed here. For Escobar to have the ability he showed on his second touchdown under wraps for the past season and a half was remarkable. I am not sure many of us knew he was going to do that in a Cowboys uniform. Certainly, the secondary of the Giants feels the same. Quite a catch, really both of them were.

On the Cowboys’ atmosphere at AT&T Stadium:
I certainly feel like the Cowboys fan base is regaining a little swagger of its own. Perhaps those tickets that were being sold to the enemy fans in September are being held more in October. The atmosphere was far more Cowboys friendly.

DeMarco Murray sets NFL RB record

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray has given a stiff-arm to history when people have brought up his name with Hall of Famers such as Jim Brown and Emmitt Smith during his magical start to the season.

In Sunday's 31-21 win over the New York Giants, Murray became the first back in NFL history to rush for at least 100 yards in each of the first seven games of a season, finishing with 128 yards on 28 carries and a fourth-quarter touchdown.

"I think we did this as a group," Murray said, sprinkling around praise for his offensive line. "So it's hard for me to accept this individually, and I definitely wish those guys were here. But they're a huge part of this, [along with] the tight ends, the receivers, the entire coaching staff. But I definitely give a lot of credit to those guys, and I'm blessed to be mentioned with that, but there's a lot of hard work that needs to be done. It's a long season."

Murray is on pace for 2,086 yards, just behind the pace Eric Dickerson had in 1984 when he ran for 2,105 yards for the St. Louis Rams. At his current pace, Murray would finish with the third-most yards in a season. Adrian Peterson ran for 2,097 yards in 2012.

"DeMarco's just doing a fantastic job for us," coach Jason Garrett said.
"He's seeing softness in the defense. He's feeling things. He's getting north and south. He's finishing runs. Sometimes when it's 2, 1, 2, 1, 3 [yards], a back can get frustrated, but he's still believing in the runs and making sure he's giving every one of them a chance. As the game goes on, you see him having more and more success."

Murray went over the 100-yard mark on the first play of the fourth quarter with a 1-yard run. He dipped back to 101 yards after a minus-2-yard run in the fourth quarter, but he closed the drive with a 1-yard touchdown run to make it 28-14.

On the Cowboys' final drive that ended in a Dan Bailey field goal after the Giants cut the lead to 28-21, Murray carried seven times for 26 yards.

Murray leads the NFL in rushing and is looking to become the first Cowboy to lead the league in rushing since Smith, who had 1,773 yards in 1995. Smith had 812 yards through the first seven games of that season.

This is the 14th 100-yard game of Murray's career.

He opened the year with 118 yards on 22 carries against the San Francisco 49ers and has followed up with 167 yards at the Tennessee Titans, 100 yards at the Rams, 149 yards against the New Orleans Saints, 138 yards against the Houston Texans and 115 yards against the Seattle Seahawks.
"It's special just to be a part of it," quarterback Tony Romo said. "It is something you don't always get to do. It really could not happen to a better guy. I love that kid. He will always be like a brother to me when we are done ... He really just exemplifies everything you could want in a player. If I was a coach, if I was a teammate, which I am, I think he is everything I would want in somebody that had a chance to go about it and have that record. He is hard-working. He is humble, and he is a team-first guy as much as anybody."

disgusting organisation, full of homophobes.

Hahaha very funny. At least they were one of only two teams to have presently done so. Will be interesting to see if any other team does so.

Not sure he is best suited to a 4-3 def as Dallas plays. As a DE in this defense he really lacks the height and more importantly the speed and the moves to get to an NFL caliber quarterback.
