Not suited to a 4-3? That's the only alignment he can play in!
He's an undersized 4-3 DE, now i dont blame Dallas for cutting him, if he aint good enough, he aint good enough but if he isnt suited for a 4-3 DE, then he isnt suited to pro football

He cant back pedal or cover, so he cant play in a 3-4 as an OLB, and he's WAY too small for a DL in on the 3-4

Not suited to play DE in the 4-3, especially with his lack of speed. With his lack of size, he does not fit in either, even with the system that Dallas has in place that allows for smaller players.

I wish him the best of luck in finding a team, but I am not sure he will. He is not big enough to play DL in 3-4 and fast enough to play DE in the 4-3.

Garrett: Jones delivered Romo news

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones delivered the message that Tony Romo could return to the game, but he did not demand the quarterback play after suffering what has been called a bruised back in Monday's loss to the Washington Redskins.

That Jones delivered the update to coach Jason Garrett during the game has raised questions about why the owner and general manager was on the field.

"I think the ideal situation is to get it communicated as quickly as possible and he felt like he could do it," Garrett said. "It wasn't a big deal to me at all."

Jones was with Cowboys' athletic trainers and doctors as Romo was being examined in the locker room after taking a knee to the back from Washington linebacker Keenan Robinson. Romo missed two series of action but returned for the Cowboys' final drive of regulation and their only possession in overtime.

Jones "indicated that the X-rays were negative and that as long as he was functional, he could be capable of playing in the game," Garrett said.

Jones' presence on the sideline has been a longtime consternation for observers in and around the league, but it is something he has done with every coach, even Jimmy Johnson and Bill Parcells, in his tenure as the team's owner.

"Don't worry about [how] things are being portrayed," Garrett said.
Romo underwent tests Tuesday morning for a more complete look at his back. Garrett said Tuesday afternoon, however, that the team was still awaiting the results of the CT scan on Romo's back.

On Monday, Romo spoke optimistically about being able to play Sunday.

"It's just hard when you lose," Romo said. "Obviously it's the worst thing you feel like you go through. We're disappointed about this game but we're going to have to figure it out within 24 hours and move past it and move on to the next game. Obviously with the injury aspect of it, you feel like you may have dodged one from that regard. That's why you do all the things you do to hopefully withstand stuff like that."

Jason Garrett evasive about Tony Romo’s status for Arizona game

IRVING – During a Tuesday morning radio interview, Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said he anticipated Tony Romo being “ready to go” this week as the team prepares to play Arizona on Sunday.

While speaking at his Tuesday afternoon press conference, Garrett didn’t sound as sure, saying Romo had a CT scan but they had not yet received the results.

“We’ll get the tests today, but we anticipate him being ready to go,” Garrett said on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM]. “When we left the stadium last night, he seemed like he was OK, and we’ll get the tests today to verify everything.”

Later in the day, an evasive Garrett would only say that the Cowboys are still waiting on the results of the scan and trying to “take it a day at a time.”

During the third quarter of the Cowboys’ 20-17 overtime loss to Washington on Monday night, Romo suffered a back contusion. Romo received x-rays and a pain-killing injection and returned after missing two series.

The Cowboys quarterback was on the field for a total of 10 plays after sustaining the injury, playing late in the fourth quarter and in overtime.
Knowing what they know now, did the Cowboys do the right thing by allowing Romo to return to the field?

“Yeah,” Garrett said. “He was functional. He was able to play. He’s been in this kind of situation before and he’s played very well. He’s certainly very credible with us. He’s mentally and physically tough. He seemed capable of doing what we asked him to do on the sidelines.”

Omni putting hotel at Cowboys' new headquarters

FRISCO, Texas (AP) -- The Dallas Cowboys are partnering with Omni Hotels & Resorts to develop an upscale hotel where the team is building its new headquarters.

The 300-room hotel in the Dallas suburb of Frisco will be a key part of the mixed-use development going up around a 12,000-seat indoor stadium and team practice facility. The stadium also will be used by the Frisco school district.

The Cowboys plan to open the facility for training camp in 2016. They will have at least a week of camp at the site, which will have outdoor practice fields.

The hotel is part of a planned development of corporate offices along with retail outlets and restaurants.

Frisco is 30 miles north of Dallas, and about 20 miles northeast of the team's existing practice facility in Irving.

Cowboys Taking Wait-and-See Approach, but an Injured Tony Romo Should Sit Sunday

IRVING, Texas — The Dallas Cowboys will wait until game time before deciding on quarterback Tony Romo's status for Sunday's matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.

It shouldn't be a decision at all.

Three days after suffering a severe muscle contusion in his back in the 20-17 overtime loss to the Washington Redskins, the team's franchise quarterback remains extremely sore and in pain.

A CT scan revealed no structural damage and that the injury is not related to the surgery he had last December to repair a herniated disc.

But the pain remains unrelenting.

And it will be that way for some time; certainly all the way up until game day, making it unlikely Romo will even practice this week.

A final decision on his availability for Sunday will be based on his ability to execute and function while withstanding the pain.

According to owner Jerry Jones, that all remains "a big if."

“At this time, we have nothing medically that would prevent him from playing,” Jones said Wednesday on the Cowboys' Flagship Radio Station. “What I mean by that is that there’s nothing to his injury that technically won’t function.

"This is a function of pain tolerance. But it’s a serious issue that you could look at people that have had a similar type injury and they haven’t played the next week, so that would cause you some concern about him playing.”

“It is not, at this juncture, in any way, a season-ending injury,” Jones said. “But it is one that raises the question of whether or not he can tolerate a certain amount of pain in that area. That’s about what we know right now.”

No one questions Romo's ability to handle pain. He did that Monday night when he returned to the game after X-rays came back negative. Romo took a pain-relieving shot and played the final two series of the fourth quarter and overtime.

Romo has demonstrated courage and toughness countless times before.

He returned to a game with a punctured lung and led the Cowboys to victory against the San Francisco 49ers in 2011.

He played through severe pain in his legs and back because of a herniated disc and led the team to a comeback victory over the Redskins last December.

Romo would later say that injury was the most pain he's ever experienced and still cringes when thinking about that game.

So there is no question his pain threshold is high enough to play through pain and go against the Cardinals.

“If it turns out to be just a pain tolerance, I will play,” Romo said. “That part has never been an issue. But we got to wait and see. It will be about your ability to be productive in some fashion. That part of it we will continue to evaluate.”

What's interesting is the shroud of secrecy in which the Cowboys are now operating.

On Monday, the injury was described as a back contusion.

But on Wednesday, Romo and the Cowboys turned vague and obtuse.

"I don’t want to get into specifics about what it is," Romo said initially about his situation. "We’ve already looked at it. It will be something you’ll look at each day. It’s unrelated to previous…You’ve got to figure out a way to manage it and go from there.”

But when specifically asked if it was still a contusion or something else, Romo replied evasively: “You’ve got to talk to the doc and training staff for that stuff. All these different terms."

Even more interesting is that the Cowboys seem unwilling to give him a pain-relieving injection to play against the Cardinals as they did so he could return to the game against the Redskins.

“That’s a good question," said Romo when asked why the same methodology wasn't being applied considering there was supposedly no risk of further damage. "I don’t know; you’ve got to ask the trainers about that stuff."

The Cowboys continue to maintain that this is not a long-term injury, and it has nothing to do with his disc surgery.

“No, it has nothing to do with back surgery or anything like that,” Romo said. “It’s different. It’s not like anything to do with disc trouble or anything like that, so we dodged a bullet in that regard.”

Still there seems to be something out there that the Cowboys fear.

And at this point, the prudent thing would be to err on the side of caution and sit Romo.

If there is any benefit to the team's 6-2 start and first-place standing in the NFC East, it is that the Cowboys have the luxury of being patient.

There is no need to put Romo and his balky back in harms way against an aggressive and blitz-happy Cardinals defense.

He is in this situation partly because the Cowboys couldn't solve the all-out blitz from the Redskins, who sacked him five times and hit him countless more.

The Cardinals already like to go after the quarterback and will certainly copy the Redskins' strategy and turn up the heat even more.

While Romo may be able to throw the ball effectively, he will be stiff with limited mobility, making him a sitting duck in the pocket.

The fact that the Cowboys have a game in London against the hapless Jacksonville Jaguars on Nov. 9 with a bye week following is even more reason to sit Romo and let backup Brandon Weeden play the next two weeks.

It would give Romo roughly four weeks to rest and heal up before he and the Cowboys begin the final stretch run to the playoffs against the New York Giants Nov. 23.

But the Cowboys are waiting until Sunday until making a final decision on Romo for the Cardinals game.

There should not be a decision at all.

Romo has nothing left to prove in the regular season. He owns all the team's passing records. He ranks fifth all time in NFL history on passer rating, behind Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Steve Young and Philip Rivers and ahead of the likes of Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Kurt Warner and Joe Montana.

All but Rivers own Super Bowl rings.

The thing that holds Romo back from being considered among the all-time greats is his lack of playoff success.

The Cowboys are in the best position to help him change the narrative and complete his legacy in 2014.

But that must be done late in the season and in the playoffs.

That's why sitting him now so he can be healthy for the stretch run should be the only decision the Cowboys make.

Dez Bryant, Joseph Randle bicker

IRVING, Texas --
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant and running back Joseph Randle got into an argument as the media was entering the practice field Friday.

Bryant did not divulge what the argument was about when asked after practice, but a source said it was related to a comment Randle made during the running back's arrest earlier this month in reference to a July 2012 incident involving Bryant and the receiver's mother.

"Dez didn't miss no games for slapping his mama," Randle said in the video, obtained by KDFW-TV, that was taken while he was being booked after stealing underwear and a tester bottle of cologne form a Dillard's in Frisco, Texas.

Randle was wondering aloud if he'd be suspended by the team for the shoplifting arrest.

In July 2012, Bryant was accused of hitting his mother, Angela, but the misdemeanor family assault charge was eventually dismissed.

"Oh, man it's all good," Bryant said Friday of the argument. "It's all right. That ain't no big deal. It ain't a big deal. It ain't no big deal. We got to get on the
Arizona Cardinals."

In the video, Randle also made a comment about
Josh Brent, who was convicted of vehicular manslaughter for his involvement in an accident that led to the death of teammate and friend Jerry Brown in 2012.

"Josh Brent, he's still up in the locker room. He was driving drunk. That's stupid," Randle said.

Brent returned to practice this week and still has two games left to serve on his 10-game suspension.

Randle made other flippant remarks while being booked, including asking a female jail employee if she would give him a massage if he paid her $100 and asking why his height and weight were not on his mug shot.

"This is not a damn trading card," a male jail employee responded.

Randle only told reporters that "I regret saying everything" after Friday's practice.

While the team was stretching, tight end
Jason Witten took his helmet off and told Randle to be quiet. There were no other incidents before the portion of practice that was open to the media concluded.

Witten downplayed the incident.

"Look, there's fiery guys," he said. "Things happen all the time. It just so happened (the media) probably were out there for a little of it. So we're going places. We're trying to move on from last week's game. All that's handled and you move forward."

The Cowboys fined Randle a game check after the arrest, but he was not suspended.

Coach Jason Garrett had no comment after Friday's practice. On Thursday, he was asked about the importance of representing the organization in a positive way.

"You want to be the right kind of guy on the field and off the field and just handle yourself accordingly," Garrett said. "It's about being the right kind of person first and foremost. We all have a privilege to be a part of the NFL, and we certainly have a privilege to play and coach for the Cowboys.

"We expect people to represent themselves the right way and respect that privilege. That doesn't mean everyone is going to do everything the right way, we recognize that -- people are human beings. But certainly you want to be accountable for things that you do that aren't right and learn from them and move on."

Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com contributed to this report.

http://espn.go.com/dallas/nfl/story/_/id/11797628/dallas-cowboys-players-bicker-practice-joseph-randle-booking-video

Randle needs to grow up. He has come across as a spoilt brat in this.

Dallas Cowboys O-line, Jason Witten get Louis Vuitton travel bags from Tony Romo for London trip

IRVING – Pro Bowl running back DeMarco Murray rewarded all of the Dallas Cowboys’ starting offensive linemen with iMac computers last week.

Murray, fresh off his seventh consecutive 100-yard rushing game, gave a desktop computer to left tackle Tyron Smith, left guard Ron Leary, center Travis Frederick, right guard Zack Martin and right tackle Doug Free.

On Friday, Tony Romo gifted all of the starting offensive linemen and tight end Jason Witten with Louis Vuitton travel bags.

“Christmas gift from the star quarterback,” Witten responded when asked about the luggage in front of his locker. “Appreciate it. I think the timing is now for the London trip, I’m assuming. So perfect timing.”

Smith, Leary, Frederick, Martin, Free and Jermey Parnell each had a box in front of their locker after Friday’s practice. Parnell has been starting at right tackle the last two games in place of the injured Free.

The Cowboys leave for London on Monday. They play Jacksonville at Wembley Stadium on Nov. 9.

Dallas Cowboys DT Josh Brent signs one-year contract extension

Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent is still serving a 10-game suspension and has not played in 23 months. But the organization has committed to keeping him beyond this year.

Sources said Brent signed a one-year contract extension with the Cowboys through the 2015 season that includes a base salary of $745,000 and no guaranteed money.

Brent, 26, returned to practice this week and drew rave reviews from owner Jerry Jones.

“Josh had a day yesterday of days,” Jones said Friday on KRLD-FM (105.3).

”He was outstanding. We were all encouraged by what we saw yesterday.”

Earlier this year, Brent was sentenced to 180 days in jail and 10 years of probation after he was convicted of intoxication manslaughter, the charge he faced for the death of practice squad linebacker Jerry Brown Jr. in a December 2012 crash. Brent was released in June and spent the final 45 days of his sentence in a treatment facility. He rejoined the Cowboys on Sept. 29 and has attended team meetings ever since. He has also done conditioning.

“He’s done a good job of working to get his weight down, but that weight has to continue to come down,” Garrett said.

Brent will be eligible to make his season debut Nov. 23 against the New York Giants. If he plays, it will be his first game since Dec. 2, 2012.

Source: Tony Romo has two fractures in part of his back; Status for next two weeks unknown

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has two fractures in the tranverse process of his vertebra a source tells SportsDayDFW's David Moore. His status for the next two weeks is up in the air.

http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/dallas-cowboys/headlines/20141101-source-tony-romo-has-two-fractures-in-part-of-his-back-status-for-next-two-weeks-unknown.ece

Tony Romo still could play Sunday

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo suffered two fractured transverse process in his back in the loss to the Washington Redskins, but there remains a chance he could play Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, according to multiple sources.

The Cowboys and Romo have stressed this is not related to the disk surgery he had last December and is not a threat to end his season. Baylor quarterback
Bryce Petty suffered a similar injury this season and missed just one game.

ESPN's Ed Werder reported Romo would either start or be inactive against the Cardinals. He did not practice all week and is officially listed as questionable.

The transverse process is a small bone that sticks out from either side of the vertebrae. Romo has been receiving multiple hours of treatment all week at the Cowboys' facility and at home.

Romo suffered the injury when he took a knee from Redskins linebacker Keenan Robinson on a third-quarter sack last Monday night. After taking X-rays, which were negative, and receiving a pain-killing injection, Romo returned for the Cowboys' final two drives of the game. He had a CT scan Tuesday.

Brandon Weeden would start against the Cardinals if Romo cannot play. Weeden took all of the first-team snaps during the week with Romo unable to practice.

The Cowboys travel to London on Monday for their Nov. 9 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. With a long flight and an achy back from two back surgeries in less than a year, Romo's practice schedule likely will be monitored leading up to that game whether Romo plays Sunday or not.

If he cannot play against Arizona, then this would be the fourth time in the last seven seasons Romo has missed a game because of an injury. He missed three games in 2008 with a broken pinkie finger. He missed the final 10 games of the 2010 season with a broken collarbone and did not play in last year's season finale because of back surgery.

Weeden performed well in Romo's absence against Washington, completing 4-of-6 passes for 69 yards and a 25-yard touchdown pass to Jason Witten. He started 20 games in two seasons with the Cleveland Browns, posting a 5-15 record.

"I feel ready. I'm confident," Weeden said. "The uncertainty is the only thing. What's the word? We going to do this? That will come but I just have to prepare like I'm going to play and expect the unexpected."

With Romo unable to take part in the offseason program, limited during training camp and not practicing on Wednesdays since Week 2, Weeden has received more work with the first-team offense than most backup quarterbacks.

Undrafted rookie Dustin Vaughan would serve as the Cowboys backup quarterback. He has been inactive the first eight games of the season.

Cowboys what to look for
No statistical milestones to be set this week

Result:
Will not be an easy game for the Cowboys with the real possibility that Romo will not play. His replacement, Weedem looked okay in his short stint last week. The pressure will be on Murray to continue his record run of 100 yard rushing game. But this time he is up against a very strong Cardinals run defense. A lot will depend on the Cowboys O-line
Dallas 27 Arizona 21
