agreed with your post. I thought we could win that game, didnt think we would, but i thought we could. What i didnt expect is how dominate we could be. I dont think the Cowboys played that poorly either, as in i dont think tey just stunk the joint up and Philly dominated as a result, i think the cowboys played as well as can be expected given how good the Eagles were

Fletcher Cox is the best player you've never really heard of. He was flat out blowing Leary and Martin up. Bennie Logan was pushing the pocket and Frederick around. Barwin and Cole were getting in Romo's face. And then the Kendricks and Matthews were flowing easily and filling gaps.

The CB's showed up too. Cary had a nice game and so did Fletch, until the game was over anyways.

It puts us in a great position, if we can win the return leg at the Linc, we'll have all but wrapped up the division. 13-3 and the #1 seed is still in play for the Eagles. Gotta get past Seattle and Cowboys, then finish off an NFC E sweep. From there, who knows? Chip is a hellova coach and the only team i fear is GB

For mine the Eagles are the team flying under the radar at the moment. I was really impressed with their showing in this game and they should be seriously considered a contender.

As for the Cowboys, they really do need to lift their game against the Bears on Friday. A loss there will certainly dent any chance they have of making the playoffs.

The problem with the Cowboys is their defense. If the offense has an off day like we did against the Eagles the defense is just not good enough to make up for it.

Fletcher Cox was on the Cowboys draft radar in 2012 and may well have taken him if their trade up to the 6th spot to grab Claiborne didn't eventuate. Right now I would have preferred the Cowboys to have taken Cox.

Sources: Romo tore rib cartilage

IRVING, Texas -- The NFL is investigating why Tony Romo has not been on the Dallas Cowboys' injury report with a rib injury the quarterback claimed he has played with for nearly two months, league spokesman Brian McCarthy confirmed to ESPN.

Romo said after Thursday night's 41-28 win against the Chicago Bears that he was playing with a broken rib. However, multiple sources say Romo misspoke and that he had torn rib cartilage, not a break.

The quarterback said he was unsure when he suffered the rib injury, but a source said it came when he took a big hit from Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner in the first series of the Cowboys' 30-23 win Oct. 12. Romo did not miss a snap in that game.

According to the NFL's injury report policy, "All players with significant or noteworthy injuri

es must be listed on the report, even if the player takes all the reps in practice, and even if the team is certain that he will play in the upcoming game."

A team is subject to a fine if the league finds it did not comply with its injury report rules. In 2009, the New York Jets were assessed $125,000 in fines for failing to put quarterback Brett Favre on the injury report after he revealed he played the final month of the 2008 season with a torn biceps tendon.

Romo has been listed on the injury report all season because of his back.

Romo has had this kind of rib injury before, suffering it in the 2008 season finale against the Philadelphia Eagles. He played through a broken rib and punctured lung suffered in a Week 2 win against the San Francisco 49ers in 2011.

Romo's health has been a talking point the entire season. He had back surgery last December to repair a herniated disk and missed the final game of the season. He was limited throughout the offseason and in training camp. After the second game of the regular season, he altered his practice schedule, sitting out of Wednesdays in full weeks of preparation to build his core strength and rehab.

On Oct. 27, against the Washington Redskins, he suffered two transverse process fractures that kept him out of one game, a Nov. 2 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

He said after the win over the Bears that the fractures are all but healed and also said the ribs were feeling a lot better, too.

"It'll be nice when it's just about the back [surgery] instead of all the other junk," Romo said.

Romo wears extra protection for his ribs and has a longer-than-normal plate to protect his surgically repaired back. He has 10 days to prepare for the Cowboys' next game, which is Dec. 14 at Lincoln Financial Field against the Eagles.

DeMarco Murray should continue to expect heavy workload; Jerry Jones: ‘We’re not saving anything’

IRVING – Despite recording a career-high 41 touches Thursday night in Chicago, Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray said this week that it’s the best he’s felt after a game this season.

That’s good news for Murray, because judging by Jerry Jones’ comments Wednesday afternoon, he should expect a heavy workload the rest of the way.

“Every down, every possession, every first down has Super Bowl meaning to it, as though you were in the Super Bowl game itself,” the Cowboys owner and general manager said after NFL meetings at the Four Seasons Resort & Club at Las Colinas. “We’re not saving anything for anything.”

Entering this year, Murray had never carried the ball more than 217 times in a single season. He’s currently on pace for 394 carries.

Last season, Murray earned a trip to the Pro Bowl after totaling 1,121 yards on the ground. He’s already at 1,606 yards this season. If he averages 132 yards over the final three games, Murray will become the eighth player in NFL history to rush for over 2,000 yards.

“The guy’s amazing,” Cowboys chief operating officer Stephen Jones said after the league meetings. “You would feel like DeMarco played under Bill [Parcells], because you don’t ever see [Murray asking for a breather]. As a matter of fact, the opposite. If you try to do something for him, he refuses. It’s well deserved. Certainly we’ve got three games left to go, but all you have to do is watch the games and watch the guy.

“He’s been a warrior and a workhorse and certainly when you’ve got a good horse and he’s working like he is, you ride the horse.”

http://cowboysblog.dallasnews.com/2014/12/demarco-murray-should-continue-to-expect-heavy-workload-jerry-jones-were-not-saving-anything.html/

Will be interesting to see how much of factor Murrays workload this season influences the Cowboys in trying to re-sign him.

My feeling is that they will not pay overs to keep him. Randle has looked good in his limited workload.

Cowboys call up defensive end Kenneth Boatright

IRVING, Texas -- Defensive end Kenneth Boatright will be called up to the active roster from the practice squad, according to Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones.

Boatright joined the Cowboys in training camp and has spent the year on the practice squad. He gives the Cowboys 10 defensive linemen on the 53-man roster.

The Cowboys created a vacancy on their roster on Monday when they waived Micah Pellerin, who has since rejoined the practice squad.

The Cowboys worked out veteran defensive end/outside linebacker Lawrence Sidbury but elected to go with Boatright instead.

Cowboys what to look for
Career
Passing
Tony Romo requires another 455 yards to pass Troy Aikman (32,942) for 1st place on the Cowboys Career Passing Yards list.
Rushing
DeMarco Murray requires another 72 yards to pass Marion Barber (4,358) for 6th place on the Cowboys Career Rushing Yards list.
DeMarco Murray requires another 24 rushing attempts to pass Julius Jones (885) for 8th place on the Cowboys Career Rushing Attempts list.
Receiving
Dez Bryant requires 77 yards to pass Frank Clarke (5,214) for 6th place on the Cowboys Career Receiving Yards list.
Dez Bryant requires another a touchdown to pass Frank Clarke (50) for 5th place and another 2 touchdowns to pass Tony Hill (51) for 4th place on the Cowboys Career Receiving Touchdowns list.
Punt Returns
Dwayne Harris requires another 75 yards to become the 6th Cowboy player to reach 1,000 yards in punt returns.
Kick Returns
Dwayne Harris requires another 56 yards to pass Herschel Walker (1,946) for 7th spot on the Cowboys Career Kick Returns list.
Season
Rushing
DeMarco Murray requires another 168 yards to pass Emmitt Smith (1,773) for 1st spot on the Cowboys Single-season Rushing list.
DeMarco Murray requires another 58 rushing attempts to pass Emmitt Smith (377) for 1st place on the Cowboys Single-season Rushing Attempts list.
Result:
Could be the most important game of the season for the Cowboys. A win will give them top spot of the NFC East with just two games to go. A loss will place pressure on the team to even grab a wild card spot in the playoffs.
Should be an exciting clash between the two NFC East heavy weights. On the defensive side of the ball there is not much difference between the two teams statistically speaking. Both are average. On offense the Eagles are ranked higher in passing while the Cowboys are ranked higher in running. This shows where the offensive strengths for both teams lay.
For mine the Cowboys will continue their great away record in a high scoring game.

DeMarco Murray getting hand surgery

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray will have surgery Monday to repair a broken bone in his left hand, coach Jason Garrett said.

The Cowboys must show they are about more than just DeMarco Murray if the running back has to miss time with a broken bone in his hand, Todd Archer writes. Story

Murray, however, has not been ruled out for this week's game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Cowboys would go committee if DeMarco Murray is absent

IRVING, Texas -- Through the first 14 games, Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray has had roughly 80 percent of the team's carries, becoming the bell cow for a franchise that has relied heavily on Hall of Famers Tony Dorsett and Emmitt Smith in the past.

If Murray, who has 351 carries for 1,687yards, is unable to play Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts because of surgery to repair a broken fourth metacarpal in his left hand, then the Cowboys will go with a running back by committee with Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar.

It's possible they could call up Ryan Williams from the practice squad to have protection in case Randle or Dunbar are hurt against the Colts.

"We have a role for those guys each week. Lance has done a number of different things for us on third down as a receiver, split out," coach Jason Garrett said. "He's just a really good football player. We also have confidence handing him the football. Joseph has been a guy that we've brought into games just to give him the ball and he's done a real nice job with that. I have a lot of confidence in both of those guys."

Randle is second on the team with 34 carries for 237 yards Dunbar has 26 carries for 91 yards.

Aikman considered returning to NFL ... with Eagles

In 2000, Dallas Cowboys legend Troy Aikman hung up his cleats for the last time.

Three years later, the Philadelphia Eagles inquired about bringing back Aikman for one last hurrah after QB Donovan McNabb went down with an injury, as Aikman said on Dallas radio station KESN 103.3 on Monday.

Apparently his conversation with then-coach Andy Reid occurred during halftime of a game he was broadcasting for FOX Sports in San Diego.
"[Reid] said, 'Hey, did you hear what happened.' I said, 'Yeah, we did a game break.' He said, 'Well I want to talk to you about coming to Philadelphia,'" Aikman said, per The Dallas Morning News. "I said, 'Andy, we're in the middle of a broadcast. It's halftime right now.' He said, 'I know, I'm watching the game.' So I said, 'OK, I'll call you after the game.'"

Of course, Aikman still resides on Sundays in the press box for FOX Sports, playing his entire football career for the Cowboys, but apparently he seriously considered the offer from Reid.

What turned him off from the Eagles' offer? A conversation with former Cowboys offensive coordinator Norv Turner, along with the retired life of living in sunny Santa Barbara, Calf., rather than going back to playing a cold November game in Philadelphia.

"I got back to Santa Barbara and this was around November or whenever it was, and I woke up and I'm thinking, 'I can either enjoy the next couple of days in Santa Barbara, California, it's about 65, 70 degrees, or I'm going to be on a plane flying to Philadelphia and probably going to be playing on Monday night against the 49ers,'" Aikman said. "I called Andy and I said, 'Hey, I'm honored that you've called me, but I'm going to stay put.'"

Cowboys fans cringe at the thought, but how odd would it be to see Aikman pulling a Brett Favre and suiting up for his longtime team's archival?

The best chance for the Cowboys to clinch a first-round bye in the playoffs is if Seattle loses at home to St. Louis (the Seahawks are a 13-point favorite) and Arizona loses on the road at San Francisco. The next-best chance would be for the Cowboys to win and the Detroit-Green Bay game finishes in a tie.

http://cowboysblog.dallasnews.com/2...who-they-likely-play-in-the-first-round.html/
Somehow I don't see St Louis beating Seattle, So it wouldn't matter what happens in the 49ers and Cardinals game.

As for the Packers and Lions finishing in a draw, well you never know. Seven of the games between the two have finished tied and the last one was only back in 2008.

DALLAS COWBOYS
2015 Pro Bowl: Tony Romo, DeMarco Murray lead six Dallas Cowboys
December, 23, 2014
DEC 23
8:40
PM ET
By Todd Archer

SELECTIONS:
Tony Romo, QB, 4th Pro Bowl Selection: Romo has thrown for more yards in a season, but he has never been more efficient, as despite being 23rd in pass attempts, he is fifth in touchdown passes with 32. He leads the NFL in quarterback rating and completion percentage. His last Pro Bowl appearance came in 2009, which coincides with the Cowboys' most recent playoff appearance.

Who he beat out: Seattle’s Russell Wilson, New Orleans’ Drew Brees and San Diego’s Philip Rivers deserved notice, but they didn’t have a better season than Romo.

Dez Bryant, WR, 2nd Pro Bowl Selection: He became the first Cowboys’ wide receiver to post three straight 1,000-yard seasons since Hall of Famer Michael Irvin, and he leads the NFL with 14 touchdown receptions. He needs one more touchdown to equal the club mark for TD receptions in a season set by Terrell Owens in 2007. He is 10th in catches (84) and ninth in yards (1,221) but he has saved his best for big moments.

Who he beat out: Detroit’s Golden Tate and Denver’s Emmanuel Sanders had more catches and yards than Bryant, but would any team take either over Bryant?

DeMarco Murray, 2nd Pro Bowl Selection: He was added to the Pro Bowl last year as an injury replacement, but there was no denying his spot this year. He leads the NFL in rushing with 1,745 yards and needs 29 yards Sunday to break Emmitt Smith’s single-season team record. He opened the season with eight straight 100-yard games, an NFL record, and has 11 100-yard games on the season. He has career highs in carries (373), yards, receptions (54) and touchdowns (12). He also displayed his toughness last week, playing six days after undergoing surgery to repair a broken left hand.

Who he beat out: As the NFL’s leading rusher, he should have beaten out every running back in the league.

Tyron Smith, OT, 2nd Pro Bowl Selection: The Cowboys signed him to a $100 million contract extension in August, showing just how important he is to the club. To many he is considered the best tackle in the NFL, but he did have a few blips that were not as apparent last season, when he made the Pro Bowl for the first time. He might be the most athletic offensive lineman in the NFL today. The best part for the Cowboys is that he just turned 24 on Dec. 12. He could be in the early stages of a long Pro Bowl run.

Who he beat out: Like Murray, he shouldn’t have had to beat any tackle out. Just ask the scouts, general managers and personnel directors.

Travis Frederick, C, 1st Pro Bowl Selection: Some cringed when the Cowboys chose him with the 31st pick in the first round of the 2013 draft, but he has been a dominant starter since Day 1 and quickly became one of the leaders on offense. He plays with great leverage and strength and is more athletic than people realize. His smarts, however, are what set him apart from most centers. He does not make the same mistake twice. The last Cowboys’ center to make the Pro Bowl was Andre Gurode in 2010.

Who he beat out: Green Bay’s Corey Linsley did a great job as a late fill in and Seattle's Max Unger deserved consideration, but Frederick has been one of the best centers in the league all season.

Zack Martin, G, 1st Pro Bowl selection: He is the first rookie offensive lineman to be named to the Pro Bowl in franchise history. Jerry Jones might have wanted Johnny Manziel leading into the draft, but Martin solidified the offensive line. He started every game at tackle at Notre Dame, but made a smooth transition to guard as a rookie. He is the first Cowboys guard to make the Pro Bowl since Leonard Davis made the squad in 2009.

Who he beat out: If you want to argue about Philadelphia's Evan Mathis or Pittsburgh's David Decastro, then fine, but Martin might have the highest grades of any Cowboys linemen and two of them made the Pro Bowl.

SNUB

Jason Witten, TE, 9 Pro Bowls: His numbers are not as prolific as they have been in the past -- 60 catches, 654 yards, five touchdowns -- but his blocking has played a big part in the reason why Murray leads the NFL in rushing. Jason Garrett consistently calls him the best all-around tight end in the NFL.

Who he should have beaten out: Denver’s Julius Thomas has more touchdowns than Witten, but fewer catches and yards. If we’re talking total package, Witten makes it.
