Sean Payton to Dallas!

It seems as though every year this story gets a mention. Well its no different this year. With Garretts contract to expire next season there is plenty of talk again that Payton coming to Dallas for 2020. If he does then it is going to cost the Cowboys a heap, in both draft picks and money. Payton would be still under contract to the Saints for 2020. For Dallas to get him out of that contract well they are going to have fork up a lot.

At or around the end of each season I like to name the best Cowboys team I have seen play. I have been following the Cowboys for over 35 years now, so I have seen a fair number of the greats of the past play.

QB Troy Aikman (1989-2000)
RB Emmitt Smith (1990-2002)
FB Daryl Johnston (1989-99)
WRs Michael Irvin (1988-99) & Dez Bryant (2010-17)
TE Jason Witten (2003-17)
LT Tyron Smith (2011-present)
LG Larry Allen (1994-2005)
C Travis Frederick (2013-present)
RG Zack Martin (2014-present)
RT Erik Williams (1991-2000)

DEs DeMarcus Ware (2005-13) & Charles Haley (1992-96)
DTs Randy White (1975-88) & Leon Lett (1991-2000)
LBs Sean Lee (2020-present), Ken Norton Jnr (1988-93) & Dat Nguyen (1999-2005)
CBs Everson Walls (1981-89) & Deion Sanders (1995-99)
Ss Darren Woodson (1992-2003) & Roy Williams (2002-08)

K Dan Bailey (2011-17)
P Chris Jones (2011-present

Coach Tom Landry (1960-88)

The Cowboys have been awarded a fourth-round compensatory draft pick, the NFL announced Friday, which gives them six total selections in April’s NFL Draft.

The Cowboys’ extra fourth-round pick is No. 136 overall. They now have two picks in the fourth round and one pick in the second, third, fifth and seventh rounds. They dealt this year’s sixth-round pick in a 2017 trade with Cincinnati for cornerback Bene Benwikere. This year's first-rounder went to Oakland in the Amari Cooper trade.

Jason Witten back!

I am stunned to hear this news. I am a great fan of Witten. But I am not sure it is a wise decision by him to return to the gridiron. It was quite obvious during the 2017 season his play was in decline. Now after a year away from the game and at an age of 37 when the season starts, he decides to make a comeback. If he was five or more years younger maybe I could understand, but not now. I would have hoped someone would have talked him out of a returning, obviously it appears not. I wonder come training camp if the reasons that Witten retired in the first place resurface.

for 5 million too!
Still great news for all NFL fans who'll no longer have to listen to this dribbling idiot in the booth

There seems to be some question as to monetary value of the contract. Some reports suggest as you say $5m whilst others say $3m.

Whatever it is, it's too much for a 37 year old who hasnt played in 18 months and last time he did play was a corpse on the paddock.

That being said, i thank the Dallas Cowboys from the bottom of my heart. This will hopefully be step one in completely removing the entire MNF team and replacing them with LITERALLY anyone else.

Dallas have signed former Texan defensive lineman Christian Covington. At 6-2 and 310 lbs should play the the one technique spot.

Don't confuse him with Chris Covington, a Cowboys linebacker.

The Cowboys lost their slot receiver Cole Beasley in the past week. It appears that they may now have his replacement in former Packer Randall Cobb. Multiple reports have him agreeing to a 1 yeardeal worth $5m. He has been beat up a fair bit in recent years, so it will be interesting to see how his signing pans out.

Eric Berry paid a visit to the Cowboys, butleft without an agreement. I suspect we will know within the next 24-48 hours where he is headed to.
