Dally M update thread

Covell? Best? Orford?

Dally Messenger would be turning in his grave.

FMD.

The Dally M is about playing Football. Orford was judged the best. His team is equal first. He is their captain and main playmaker and amongst their best if not their best player.

What I actually find flabbergasting, is that Orford actually managed to poll enough points. I mean I thought he had absolutley no freinds in the RL community, and this Dally M win was done against the odds more than you think. For Orford to get any recognition, he has had to perform.

What a joke Slater missed out.

It's not the best and fairest so why dock him 3 points for being suspended?

Who was the ass clown who decided to give Slater just 1 point in the final round game against the Bunnies?

Big fat Zorba Peters was probably a judge...

You answered your own question. Under the old rules he would have been inelegible all together. In 2001 Andrew Johns won by a mile but got suspended so they changed it

That award is the low point of the night.

Overall the Dally M's is far more interesting than the AFL equivilant, but you are right that Telegraph headline of the year award is f**king cringeworthy

Yes, goes to show who wears the pants in the relationship, also you are kidding if you think thats a better spectacle than the Brownlow.

I hate AFL but I'm a bit of a realist, theres sh*ts all over ours.

Rubbish...

The AFL give 3-2-1's for every game in every round. It's about as interesting as eating lard. I don't know how the crowd sit through it. It's all for one award.

At the least the Dally M's have various awards and an exciting 10 round count down. The Brownose may well have the prestige, but it rates a 0 out of 10 on the interesting stakes.

I see what your saying and I agree with you to a certain degree.

The crowd sit through it though, and they cheer pretty loudly towards the end. I think it's on prime time fta also. and they don't have the prestegious headline of the year award.

Forget the fact it's on FTA and the crowd cheer after 4 hours of boredom, in terms of an interesting event, it's crud.

It would have to be the most boring awards night anywhere. Of course Victorians bar up over it. It's AFL! That's all they know.

Tongue, Henry and Best fully deserved their awards
Anyone who has watched a decent amount of raiders game could not argue against those awards, particuarly colin best who is copping some sh*t in this thread. You blokes are kidding yourself if Colin Best's form this year wasnt worthy of a wing/centre of the year award. The bloke has carved many of your sides up.

Campese was robbed of the 5/8th of the year, how he goes about being equal 4th, and 3 points away from Dally M player of the year, in a side tipped to run last, is beyond me
I dont want to take anything away from Inglis who, IMO is the best player in the world today, but to say his performances at 5/8th were better then campese's over the year, is put bluntly, a farce

I find both the awards nights every bit as boring as each other. Then again i can't think of any awards nights of any description that aren't boring.

Just 1 thread Raiders' fans! Prove me wrong.

 why wouldnt we give a flying f**k about proving you wrong?

Campese was robbed, you know it, i know it, Inglis certainly knows it. So why cant it be said?
The whole point of the Dally M's is to accumulate more points then your opposition, and no 5/8th claimed more points then Terry Campese.

Hinestly though Anasta would have got the pivot award. Not for being the best, but for being consistent. The usual suspects like Lokyer, Marshall and Finch had injuries or position changes.

Campo only fired i the second half of the year. That said, nothing Inglis did in a Storm jumper got near Campo, or Mateo mid year for that matter.

slater only scores tries and he wasn't even the top try scorer.

he does the things that people notice - like the long range tries, the big leaps etc etc.

more specifically, nothing inglis did in a 5/8 jumper got near campo. which is why he was robbed IMO.

inglis is the best player in the game, and thoroughly deserved his other two awards. but to award him 5/8th of the year is ridiculous.
