Worth noting that I went back and checked, and Johnson would have got FEWER points from the last 3 games if we had used forum 3-2-1 scoring instead. So we don't really have grounds to complain...
At that stage of the season SJ was well in the lead of our forum POY so a number of voters, me included, gave points to lesser lights who tried hard.Worth noting that I went back and checked, and Johnson would have got FEWER points from the last 3 games if we had used forum 3-2-1 scoring instead. So we don't really have grounds to complain...
Ponga did it with a lot less games as well! What a robbery lol
Funny not many Panthers in either team and they have dominated so much in last 4 seasons!
Slater won it when Smith and Cronk in the same team. So it is do able. The 6 point system with two judges made it a lot more unpredictable this year I think. Made for some big swings on the leaderboard.
but really it was AFB who got Ponga the win, we had two players polling big numbers, the knights had one.
Makes you wonder if Paul Gallen and Ruan Sims were voting in those games?0/6 in the Tigers win and 1/6 in the Manly win. Not saying SJ was a massive stand-out in either game but I found that a bit surprising, especially the Manly game where our right side attack carved up and he kicked the match-sealing field goal.
True team footy rather than individuals dragging a team throughFunny not many Panthers in either team and they have dominated so much in last 4 seasons!
Let's hope both SJ's and KP's egos can handle it all!I reckon SJ had a pretty good idea that Ponga was going to overtake him when he was in the lead at round 23. Was fairly predictable that KP would poll the most points from there as the knights went on an unbeaten run and he was the most dominant player in any side for that period.
Judas Taumalolo was still a Kiwi when he won it too.It has been a bit embarrassing today readying all the comments from Kiwis ‘tHe AuSsIeS wIlL nEVeR lET a KiWi WiN iT” when RTS won it very recently
SJ crediting being home, a coach setting good standards and being able to go home and sulk or celebrate.
Going to be further along the track under Webbys plan first day of preseason and adding handy players in RTS and CTH.
I like that Robinson actually cares that much but I worry he’ll do something stupid at some point, haha. The old drunk Buzz said he has never seen an angrier man at one of these functions than Mark Robinson was afterwards last night lol
I don’t really have any problem with how it is now, generally the best players over the course of the season will be right up in the pointy end of things, even if they miss a chunk of games like Tom in 2021How does the system get "fixed" to represent the actual best player?
SJ was a very important player to our team, but I feel Cleary is in front of him as a halfback and even Reynolds.
Yes he had a stand out year, but Ponga stood out in his team more as he had less competition in his team vs SJ and AFB, Egan, even Harris.
How does an MVP system work?
Does each position for the round get 1st-16th (1 team has bye) across the teams?
Do you look better if you play the Tigers or Bulldogs twice in this year's competition?
Yep I’d take him over the Manly owner who just sits in New York and doesn’t seem to have any passion for the jointI like that Robinson actually cares that much but I worry he’ll do something stupid at some point, haha.
still, beats Eric Watson
