Damien MARTYN...

Yep get Bichel in for that f**king idiot egomaniac Lee. What about in the test when India were about 700 runs ahead and Lee finally gets a wicket, a tail ender, and starts carrying on like he was God's gift to sport. What a mug.

Damien Martyn ALWAYS gets out with that same shot, when we play NZ they even put two fieldsmen there because he's bound to get out.

Mummy said if you havn't got anything nice to say then don't say anything at all.

My worry is how long are the selectors willing to peservere with Martyn for?

Yeah, I can't believe that Lee actually did the chainsaw when he got the tailender out. He's what, the second Australian bowler to have over 200 runs conceded against him in an innings? Disgraceful.

Bichel has troubled India before (I believe). We need him if we are serious about wrapping up this series.

Martyn has had a lean series but played a good knock in Hobart for his 47*. Martyn isn't the only Australian to drop a catch this summer so he's not alone. Ponting has had an even worse VB series to date with the bat yet everyone's calling for Martyn's head. :?

Martyn was the only batsmen not to get amongst the runs in the test series. Whilst Ponting as had a quiet VB series, he cannot be compared to Martyn. He just scored 2 double tons fer christ sake!

yeah katich is needed in the lineup somewhere and at the moment the only weak link in the batting lineup is martyn, but he did score 47* off 39 balls a couple of days ago..

Whats the point on starting on Ponting. When was the last time they dropped a skipper in his prime

We need more than Bichel.

Martyn never moves his feet early on in his innings. Exactly like Steve Waugh.

Martyn doesn't deserve to be compared with Steve Waugh.

Comparing Waugh and Martyn

One is known for his fighting qualities and making runs when we need it.

The other bloke doesnt move his feet.

Damien Martyn's One Day International career is fairly safe at the moment. His dropped catch yesterday was both slack and sloppy but it won't see him dropped - Katich dropped an equally easy chance in the Test match.

His batting is inconsistent, especially given he constructed a very good 47* the other day off about 39 balls - he has some form there but tends to lose his wicket in the tough situations which isn't condusive to fightbacks.

But his career is safe - getting out for 1 won't prompt the selectors to drop him - his form in the last 12 months has been great - two or three centuries and eight 50s - this isn't the type of form you can gloss over.

A few bad scores are giving the fans the heeby jeebies when in actual fact his recent successes are outstanding. Martyn is safe - he will remain in the VB squad.

The difference is that Katich backed that drop cath up with a superb century, which certainly saved that match from defeat. And then he scored a vital half century.

Its a lost cause Oswin, anyone with half a brain would realise that over the past 12 months, only Clarke and Symonds compare to Martyn in ODIs, but people wan't him gone cause he doesn't rate on the "fav player" lists

In the seaon 2003, Martyn was the second to only Ricky Ponting in batting statistices.

But it is 2004 and an entirely different story with Marytn in entirely different form.

I would have loved to have seen the response had it been Steve Waugh before his announcement to retire. The selectors would have no worries in dropping him. And I am mostly talking Test cricket here.
