Daniel Anderson and Jarryd Hayne on collision course

Im the first to admit that Mortimer has been going like a busted bum this year but I dont think the kid is totally to blame.
He was targeted in defence against the Broncos and forced to make 42 tackles. Thats 42 tackles from a rather small half back and Im sure the majority of these tackles were rampaging oposition forwards.
Because of his size he will continue to be targeted in defence. So my question is, what game plan has been devised to ensure he is not required to make 42 tackles in a game.
Jamie Soward has defensive issues but the Dragons game plan protects him so he has energy available to attack and organise.
Again I say that Mortimer has been dissappointing but if he is doing so much defensive work its little wonder.
So what is being done to correct this problem Coach?

I dunno, maybe the media is making a bigger deal out of it then what it really is?(as they always do).

If it is true well they need to sort it out ASAP as it can cause problems and what not. I find it hard to criticize Hayne after what he did last year. If you think about he single handedly led our team to the GF, he made all these budget players like Mortimer, Reddy and Lowrie etc. look like superstars what he did was amazing. I know it's in the past and he probably isn't playing his best but he his very carefully watched by every team this year and it makes it hard for him to do what he did last year. I think Ando is out of line if this is true.

So he has talked to osbourne and ando and not Jarryd? Since jarryd is his client shouldn't he have spoken to him first?

He wants to talk the talk. he walks the walk. This is the problem for every halfback in the competition. He carried on like he was the next great thing now its time for him to deliver. No excuses for this kid. he is rubbish & should cherrish the last big contreact he will ever get

Huh?

Anyone hear/get anything about that? News to me.

Can anyone confirm if it was actually a compulsory function for the players? There wasn't really much of an advertisement for it. I guess he would be frowned upon for not going when everyone else did, but I'm interested to know if it was compulsory.

IF the beat up is true, I can't say I'm for or against either party.

DA probably shouldn't have singled out Hayne - Hayne doesn't get his hands on the ball, everyone calls for him to get more involved.... Hayne does get his hand on it, people b*tch that he is taking the halves out of the equasion.

Hayne shouldn't have spat the dummy though if it's true. The fans are always supportive of him and would have been disappointed not to see him there.
I don't think it was, the advertised it a few times at the game but there certainly was not he full compliment of players at that function as far as I remember. They all had dinner @ the club, maybe that was the compulsary part?

Given what has happened to the PLC and Eels marketing departments in recent times I'm not surprised it wasn't heavily promoted.

I was there and counted only 14 on the stage.

Hayne has nothing to worry about, Anderson is a goner. He will be getting replaced with another NZ 'er

PARRAMATTA champion Nathan Hindmarsh admits Jarryd Hayne was once "cocky and arrogant" - but not anymore. After dismissing a rift between Hayne and Eels coach Daniel Anderson, a candid Hindmarsh gave The Daily Telegraph a rare insight into the personalities of the club's star player and head coach.
The Telegraph revealed yesterday that the relationship between Hayne and Anderson was at breaking point.
Tension between the pair prompted Hayne's manager, Wayne Beavis, to seek an urgent meeting with Anderson, who was critical of his fullback's performance in Saturday night's 10-6 loss to Brisbane at Parramatta Stadium.
The banner headline in The Sunday Telegraph roared: "Blame Hayne".
However, Hindmarsh backed Hayne and Anderson, declaring: "There is no rift - and there's definitely no crisis."

Asked about Hayne's character, Hindmarsh said: "If you had asked me two years ago I would have said, yes, he was cocky and arrogant.
"But since then he has become much more mature on and off the field. He has a great insight and knowledge of the game. Jarryd has really changed over the past few years.
"A couple of senior players, myself included, rode him a bit hard. But he showed what he can achieve last year.
"And there has been a lot of pressure on him this year to do it again. It's tough on him."
Asked if Anderson lacked man-management skills, Hindmarsh said: "I find his man-management skills very good. Ando speaks the truth.
"He very rarely blows up, only when we deserve it.
"Even after Saturday night's loss he didn't blow up. He said we improved in some areas and to look forward."
Hindmarsh dismissed any problems between Hayne and Anderson and predicted the speculation would disappear after a few wins.
"I've seen it all before," Hindmarsh said.
"There is nothing to worry about. Haynesy and Daniel get along very well. That's it. These stories come out when a team isn't going that well."

Hindy is the most brutally honest rugby league personality on the planet and that includes other players, coach's and media staff...

I trust this guy with my life...

Yep and I agree that Ando says it as he sees it. Mateo would have been told that he's lazy and I have no doubt that Hayne would have been told to harden up and play smarter. Truth hurts to gen Y...

I'm still perplexed as to why the DT felt the need to bring up that DA has a problem with Polynesian players. They wrote the story as if this was an actual cause for a rift between DA and Jarryd.

I think it's convenient for some factions to say that DA has a problem with Poly players. As someone posted yesterday, he just signed Manase Manuokafoa as a top 25 prop, so if he had a blanket problem with players of that origin, then he wouldn't have signed Many.

DA has a problem with players who have a poor work ethic and its not news for me to suggest that many many Poly players are not good trainers and do not put in 100% in every game.

Mateo & Inu are certainly prime examples of this. Both have the raw talent to be the best in the game, but the desire is just not there. Shame really.

well yeah, there could be a "problem", but the disastifaction doesn't have to be coming from Ando, it could be coming from the other way - irrespective there could still be a potential problem ..... not saying its Ando's fault or not, but maybe he just wears thin on certain types of player

not every player is like Hindy - he gets enormous respect from coaches because of the effort he puts in - no one can ever question his ticker .... so Hindy never has a problem with any coach cos he gets alot of respect - but the coaches might not go so well with others (eg Brian Smith, Daniel Anderson)

Cheers, the reason I asked it was because it goes to the core of the credibility of the article.

If there was no compulsory fan event, there's no 'boycotting' of a function.

was it really necessary for Osborne to send a members email saying everyone loves each other and there is no rift?
