In Johns book he says something about being scared to start taking the Bi Polar medication, because he thought it would diminish his creativity on the field and the high he'd feel when winning.

Very rightly so.
The medication used to treat bi-polar disorder is incredibly powerful.

I never had much time for Johns as a person when i thought he was just an ego-maniac (although i thought he was a great player). But i've worked with people with bi-polar disorder for over 30 years and i've never heard of anyone who was able to perform at an elite level in any field while taking these meds. His psychiatrist performed a miracle in keeping him well and performing at the level of best player in the world.

As an example - Mike Tyson suffered the same illness and had to be taken off meds to train for fights, and by the time they got him into the ring he was biteing off ears and threatening to eat babies.

Johns is a very good media performer.
Debatable. He's confident in front of the camera, but he shoots out more cliches than any footballer I've seen, and when he does vary from the script, he sounds like a 13 year old.

Someone like Steve Price is what you'd call a good media performer.

Correct. He also stated in same book that he hated fronting the media and knew he was awful at it.

Roops, you could have used Eales, Gregan or Gaze for your example and well you should have. Joey was painful to watch infront of the camera throughout his whole career and is only just above cringe worthy now.

Glad you all got a laugh out of my "pre madonna" line. Brain fart on my part

Heathers on the same money, so I guess he takes heavier stuff thatn 'disco buscuits', according to you.

BTW, Joey admitted his sins. Heather "no- couldn't have been me - definitely wasn't me - impossible" bloody hid from his.

Both are great players. Heather makes Gary Larson sound like Pavarotti. Saying Heather is the best thing to happen to RL this century is a bit rich, though.

do you think there are many NRL players that did that stuff and didnt own up. Using this thread to bash Johns is a little sad.

Johns "admitted his sins" after a career of taking recreational drugs. and only because he got caught.

Lockyer probly couldnt remember the incident. it wasnt that serious after all.

They're completely different things.

Lockyer originally stated it wasn't him and he was not drunk. 100% mate not him.

That changed to he couldn't remember because he was too drunk to do so.
AND he only fronted up once there was footage to prove it was him.

I believe he would never have owned up if he had not been caught.

IMO anyone who, as you stated lie about something that 'wasnt that serious', will lie about things that are much more serious.

I believed Locky when he stated he was with Wendell and Joey when they both got caught with drugs being a coincidence. I now have doubts about that.

mate if Lockyer 5-10 years after he retires admits to things like Joey did then it would somehow be different to you because Lockyer is Lockyer and Johns is Johns.

recreational drugs dont enhance your performance so Joey didnt get any help being a better player.

Just dont use it as leverage

from the original article ...

The final in Brisbane was sold out months ago.

still this lie is sprouted as fact when it was never ( and still isn't ) sold out .

I just visited ticketek and was offered 6 tickets next to each other in ...
Section: 304
Row: 11
Seat/s: 25-30

by continually lying about the game being sold out ... surely there's less chance of it selling out because nobody is expecting there to be tickets available .

why not just say "some tickets available , get in fast before they're sold out" ?

instead it'll end up being like the opening cermony which was also going to have a huge crowd and was several k short of capacity .
