I am not upset at all, I am more baffled as to how many people accept it and when it happens regularly it is quite alarming. I don't want anyone to do anything but when I come on here and read shit like it "happens" and whatever other garbage excuses for why we get smashed I will say something. We had a good enough team out there and have at times this year to not lose like we have, no excuse washes. We do not need to win every game but some ket stages and events during this season has showed me we need a lot of work.
I was told on here by some that "teams get flogged, it happens" that attitude to me sums up this club and has for years, it shouldn't happen, not with the roster we have, we are not that bad to cop a beating twice within a month, yes we have lost key players but we still have a competitive side, when the going gets tough regardless of what occurs solid teams find a way to stop the rot, we more often then not do not, I am sorry. Also been told it's just a game of footy get over it, so I would say some on here act like they care but probably don't, hence why I said what I said, I don't say it for shits and giggles.
I've been supporting my whole life and it won't stop now, I have seen much worse times then this.
Never expected us to be a powerhouse whatsoever, never, all I want is to see us f**king defend, nothing irks me more then conceding soft tries, nothing! We were defensively so resolute last year, yes we had our team ripped apart but it is not an excuse for some of the awful defending we have presented at times this year, I am sure some will ask why do I care about defence so much? Obviously if you can defend your always gonna put yourself in a position to win games, and I just don't think we are even close to that right now and the roster we have is still more then capable of being a solid defensive unit.
Next year hey? It's always f**king next year with Parra, we have been saying it since 1986 and what has that got us all? f**k all. I am sorry, next year will come and there will be a new issue that we will not be able wait to solve the year after. This attitude just shits me. What am I gonna do about it? What's that suppose to mean? I will support the team again and again and hope one day we strike the winning formula. I've become quite used to losing and defeat so it won't be anything unusual.
We have a favourable run home which is great, but we need to step it up if we wanna be playing September football, plain and simple. We are off it from the top teams, and if you want to play in September then you need be able to ruffle a few feathers, we have not done that since round 1 and 2. Coming close to beating Canberra is simply not good enough, we should have won, close enough is good enough has been accepted for years at Parra.
Next season always presents more hope, yet every year it ends the same as the year previous, so forgive me for wanting us to draw a line in the sand and just present a competitive football team.
May I just ask - what's so special about our roster?
I believe we have a balance of speed and power in it backs.
I believe we have inconsistent, yet creative halves.
I believe we have top class edge forwards.
But imo that's where our strengths end.
We have a hard-working - yet small - middle pack.
We have a hooker who is inexperienced, injury-prone, and not ready to play 80 minutes every week.
Our roster, imo, is mid-table at best, so to me - as disappointing as it is to lose to and/or get flogged by much better teams - we are pretty much par with where we should be.
I completely understand fans' frustrations - I share the same frustrations.
But the reality is that thanks to an incompetent board, we are rebuilding for the third time in as many years, and any astte analyst will tell you that a proper rebuild doesn't take 12 months - it takes a lot longer.
Arthur has seen our weaknesses - we needed size in the middle, so he signed Evans; we need a hooker to take pressure off Pritchard, and so we are in the market for another 9, I believe - and he has moved to address them.
After Foran dogged us, he knew we needed a partner for Norman; he signed the bloke with the most upside that was available at the time.
Moses has flaws, but he's 23, and should statistically improve the more time he gets to play with his new team.
I understand that we are all frustrated, but I, for one, am pleased to see the coach is playing the long game of trying to set us up for long-term competitiveness, rather than shooting for short-term glory.
Let's not forget that our cap situation for 2017 was still muddy merely weeks before the season began.
