David Gallop of 2SM - post interview, best and worst callers and your thoughts

ok, so Gallop has finally left the studio at 2SM and the discussion is over. Personally, I'd like to hear your thoughts and detailed analysis of not just the questions, but more importantly, Gallops answers.

In the meantime, here's my take on the events which have just unfolded:

I am not surprised one bit by Gallop's responses. It's typical of what has happened over the last few years, and how much News have sold us short of what our true worth is. I love the openness and non-censorship with the callers questions. As I said, you'd never see that on 2GB with Hadley and co. I loved to hear the passion about how some callers really felt, and they didn't hold back. They put Gallop on the spot and needless to say, Gallop started to eventually feel a little bit uncomfortable and squrimish. However, too many repeat questions from ppl, especially about golden point. For goodness sake, I dunno how many ppl asked him about Golden Point. Even Hughesy was getting sick of it.

Now, I hear Mark Geyer crapping on post-interview saying how he was very dissapointed with the listeners questions. What is he talking about! Yes, there were some questions that were too pedantic and were repeated, but I do believe that the main issues existing in Rugby League were all covered. Dunno what he's talking about, he must've had one too many drinks before coming on air. And btw, he did say that he and Graeme were not allowed to ask any questions, so that does confirm what Brutus said earlier about his initial suspicions about the setup.

My favourite and the best caller of the night was Goose. ROFL! HAHAHHAH! Man, his exaggerated syllables, such as "Heeeeeeeeyyyyyyy, Mr Gallllllllllllopp". Never heard anyone speak like that before:lol:

Well, one quote that Gallop said that is ingrained in my head, in regards to the TV Rights deal:

"In 2013, the NRL will receiver a substantially larger tv rights deal than the current one".

I'll like to see him keep his word on that.

Gallop being sacked or resigned from his position as CEO would be a good start. However, I think the long term objective is to rid News Ltd from the game. The day that News Ltd officially leave the game (Which is suppose to occur sometime in 2017) and have no more ownership or control of it, will be a day for all of us on LU to savor and celebrate to the max. I'll be 30 then (if I'm still around then, which I hope so), so I'll cherish the moment to the max. From that day forward, League can move forward and achieve to its maximum potential.

Getting rid of News Ltd sounds like an impossible task. Will it be hard to do: YES!!! What should we do?: I'm sure theres enough intelligence from the ppl on this forum to come up with some great ideas. But, as people such as Mahatma Ghandi, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks have shown over the years, no mountain is impossible to climb.

I'd like to know which parts of the interview that most of you hold a grieveance about because as much as I am not necessarily a fan of Gallop I still believed his answers, whilst not what we like to hear, were very rational and based on statistical and quantative analysis of Rugby League as a business entity.

I know we all love our game and want it to be known by everyone but in any business there needs to be a strategic approach with long term plans. All in all I enjoyed the interview and thought Gallop handled the questions well and gave some good explanations.

I thought it was promising to be honest. Not Gallop, but the amount of fans who are disgruntled with him. News can't hold out forever..can they?

I'd love to see how David Gallop answers the following questions:

- When did you first go to a rugby league game
- Who did you play for as a junior
- What was your favourite on-field moment of 2007

I know there are people who say ex-players shouldn't be administrators but this bloke has so little passion for rugby league it's starting to feel like he doesn't CARE about the long term future of the game.

i like gallop but am starting to be convinced he needs to be sacked.

but someone with no connection to news ltd.

we need a RL man

I don't think we need a RL man necessarily. If they are a blue blood, to me, it’s merely a feather in their hat. What we need is someone who has been successful in the business world. A true business person stands behind their product because they invest their entire fibre into it. They are ruthless. They are articulate. They are concise. They have vision. They motivate. Gallop possess none of these attributes.
