Has the ARLC seen his poor job in the negotiations and allowed him to jump before he was pushed?

OR

Is the TV deal not looking to good and Gallop is trying to save face?

Seems like odd timing.

Don't scare us. Hopefully it's the first.

In any case. It's a fresh start for the game for the game to keep moving forward.

So who is on the short list to replace him?

Will they look for someone independent and if so how will they define it?

What if it is demonstrated that the process by which this was done was unlawful? Manly are still weighing up their legal options with respect to this so maybe it was all above board, maybe it wasn't. Would your opinion change if it was shown to not be lawful?
All that's been seen of this so far is plenty of hot air and zero evidence.

He did a decent job for the game in the last 10 years, and he is a well respected administrator in Australian Sport.

However, it was time for a change with the new Commission in, and its a good opportunity for the game to reach the soaring heights it belongs.

What exactly did he do well? He buggered up expansion, he took no control over the rule changes that have become more and more vague, he has allowed the judiciary to become a lottery, he has mishandled problems with player behaviour. He has done absolutely nothing that could be considered proactive at all. He defended the macintyre system to the hilt for years and then as soon as the ARLC ditched it, he came out saying he was a supporter of the new (ARL) system.

Independent you would think would be defined as someone who has no affiliation to News Ltd, the clubs or other areas of the games administrations (CRL, ARL, QRL etc).

The game, if they are going to go independent will hire an executive talent agency (Hudson, Talent2 etc) to canvass the business community and invite qualified candidates to apply.

You would expect senior execs from the construction, finance and media industries to be the front runners IMO. They know how to negotiate, work at senior/boardroom level on a daily basis and are suitably qualified.

Some may even be headhunted on recommendation of current board members.
