Great commentator, and the narrator of one of my most prized possessions: the VHS highlights tape of the 1999 season called "Dragons: Breathing Fire into 99". Of course the ending sucks but I would always hit eject at halftime of the GF

Sad to see this about David Morrow. Listening to him broadcast games on the ABC with Warren Ryan were great and then he got the bullet and then glad he was able to join up with the Continuous Call team on 2GB. A Dragons tragic and tried very hard to not whinge about the decisions by the refs against the RedV team when he was calling our games.

I do hope that he is comfortable and resting and everything possible is being done to maybe help him overcome this disease, which can rightly be achieved god willing.

That is so very sad & tragic news. He was one of the very best sports commentators in Australia. I use to love listening to him & Warren Ryan on ABC radio as it was compelling with a great insight into the game.
These days I wouldn’t bother with any of the Triple M dimwits as it’s embarrassing listening to their waffle and attempt at humour.
Thirsty Morrow as a Saints Man, may he be blessed in his battle ahead.

His call of the second test against the Poms on the 90 Kangaroo Tour was sensational.

Literally speechless after Cliffy Lyons try in the greatest Test Match ever played in Rugby League.

Watch it on YouTube asap if you haven’t already.

And if you have - watch it again!

I knew David at the Sydney Uni Cricket Club in the late 70s before his career with the ABC began. I recall he did a tape of a SUCC vs Randwick 2nd Grade match as part of his application to the ABC. Used to listen to him and Warren Ryan on Sunday arvos for decades. Not having seen him for years, I bumped into him at a SCG bar after the Aussies had beaten South Africa maybe around 2005/6. We talked about the Dragons - clearly remember him saying how much Warren would rave about the skills of Matthew Head. Such a pity injury cruelled him because we may have picked another premiership otherwise.

Dave was always a great supporter of sport in the bush. It added colour to the pregame talk. Now I can only wish him the very best of success in the tough battle he is facing.
