De Gois Rumour

How many players that play for the Bulldogs, Tigers, Eels and Penrith do you think actually live in their clubs area?

I know a lot of the Dogs live in Cronulla, but in particular Parra and Penrith players live in their areas. The Tigers area covers an area the size of some European countries...

You aren't seriously suggesting players commute from Bondi to Penrith for training...

Well if De Gois is going to the Roosters, I don't imagine Jake Friend would be real impressed.

He re-signed today until the end of 2012.

Another sign this rumour was a load of crap.

DeGois is a knight. However I think tonite's board meeting will go a long way to seeing whether he stays long term or not. Brad Walter form the SMH believes that, cop this, that the knights board will appoint Stone full time without a trial period because they think it would be 'UNFAIR" to give him the job temporarily and then turf him for a more talented candidate. If this has any legs Burraston and his mates can go and get ..................

We are perhaps being a bit unfair on Stone.

He has served a very long apprenticeship and has been very successful in QLD cup.

It is going to depend on who we get around him - Robbo is apparently technically excellent, but we need another strong assistant and a great NYC coach.

Rip (NYC) and someone else great.

2sm just announced that Roosters hooker Jake Friend has re-signed til the end of 2012. Wouldn't be logical if they intended to buy De Gois

My partner lives in Randwick, i work in Penrith, on a monday morning, to get from her place to my work it takes me 40 minutes. With the M4, Eastern Distributor, M5, M7 etc, getting from Bondi to Penrith is a fairly quick commute these days... except in peak hour.

Interesting stuff about De Gois. I hope you guys keep him, he's a good talent, but if you dont i've herd Stuart Flanagan might be on the look out for a new club in 2010. He hasnt got a fair crack at it down in canberra IMO, and ive herd he wants out. Good player i recon.

I heard Luke Grant say this morning on his Breakfast show say that it was all a load of BS. I think we can believe what he says cuz he has a connection to the Roosters.

There are a lot of 'vibes and 'feelings' around here about Stone....

How many of you actually know him?

I don't know Stone nor can vouch for his coaching ability.

All I ask is that he is the best candidate available, not the most popular.

I do worry when theres talk that he's the favoured candidate and may be fast tracked into the role.

If you are filling a key role in an organisation, even if there is a strong candidate, its appropriate to follow through on the selection process as you need to bench mark the candidate against the field. It also allows you to ensure the perceived "strong" candidate is in fact the best, determined through the selection process.

Irrespective of Stone's qualities, surely the club needs to shortlist a number of applicants and have them present their vision and coaching direction for the club.

Fast tracking Stone, irrespective of his actual credentials smacks of "jobs for the boys", run a rigorous selection process and allow the best man to win.

Good point Pika. If Stone is the best candidate after all applicants are considered then fair enough. Signing him without a full board review and interview of all candidates is absurd though.
