I read on The ROar
That Young and Flanno don’t get on

Has anyone else heard that?
Interesting scenario if there is any element of truth.

Our illustrious club has yet against painted itself into a corner.
  1. If Young fancies the job then Flanno is a hurdle.
  2. If Flanno does want the job he has to tread water and tolerate Young.
  3. If the BOD want option 1 they need Flanno for another as a guiding light to try and parry the “oh not another rookie” criticism.
  4. If the BOD want option 2 and announces that and meanwhile Young wants option 1 then Young might say up yours and go elsewhere for 2021
  5. In the end IMO a completely clean slate is by far the best option.

I think it's the opposite - that's why I posted the video earlier in the thread - Gypsy and Jerry accuse them of having a bromance and Young says he's learning heaps off Flanno and that Flanno has come round to his house out of hours to help fix his plumbing!
If anything that clip demonstrates how inept Young is & how ‘ept’ Flanno is

OT I agree with option 5!
IMO Flanno is not the answer & I feel Dean Young needs to leave the nursery for a few years of outside the Dragons bubble, before he returns and is ready to Step up.

I just hope the club can find & attract somebody from outside with the right stuff!

When I saw the two of them at Mudgee Charity Shield weekend they were as thick as thieves having beers - if anything I believe they were aligned as a block against Mary
I think things will be clearer as to who's intentions if Flanno signs up again for next year

He speaks very well and I like that he did say ,I will now do it my way ..... So what I can gather , is he has 6 weeks and if they do OK the job is there for him if he wants it .....
That's it, the job is his if does ok these last remaining matches, if he wants it.

For me its all heading towards Dean getting the job , which I don't want , .... He might turn out OK , but I don't want to go down that McGregor path again ....
I'm hoping that Young is his own man and not reliving any game plans Mary has used week in/week out.

I can see from his interview that he is keen to do his own thing which is good. Now we will wait to see the results. 4-5 wins out of the final 6 games might give him a couple of years as the head coach.

One thing in favour of Dean Young is that he played under Bennett, so he knows what Bennett expects from his sides.

Being an assistant under McFlop was a no win situation for Young.

His demeanour during the interview leads me to think he was an observer as assistant coach with little to no influence.

I can’t see him writing a book of excuses ala Paul.

Let’s give him a fair go.

Dean u have six weeks.

If it doesn’t work out, call your old coach and get him to Saints pronto!!!

I for one do not want DY as a coach. He may turn out to be a good coach but right now He is not what is required.

He is in no way a Mary clone. Mary listened to no one except Mary but he was a good bloke as everyone says. To me he is a moron and his feel good story on leaving is all his mates getting together and being what mates do.

Yes we’ve been famously fuc/ked over twice

& thrice is in the offing if an easy draw gets Deano 4/6

History repeating?

Do the right thing Webby & give us a seasoned NRL coach ASAP
... beyond the Old Boys’ Club.

So many on here are falling into the old trap, seduced by the ‘good bloke give-him-a go, ‘see-how-it-goes, things-might-improve syndrome

.... ‘a good bloke who loves the Club & is saying the right things’
True enough maybe

But

He’s interim
& keep it at that

Be fully professional Webby

.... not the chimera of 100 applicants, then select Brian-of-the-Waterboy-Extension con
...and loss of a million$$$ in payout

IMO at 36
Deano lacks the experience, record & gravitas required to help initiate putting the cleaners through the Club to win a comp.
(Something that I thought was Forum consensus 9 days ago?)

The 5 years’ suspicion about this appointment has materialised?

Foot on the throat of the Board until complete & genuine change is done is required

Or it’s déjà vu again
The Fools’ Paradise lurking lol

...even The Media & Gould are in consensus on Cleanout

And I’ll happily ‘whinge’ till it’s done
... & not half done

Bennett had a huge influence on Young and Hornby; and Bennett confessed many times to be impressed also by them. Never surprise to see the Dragons BOD angling to see the three of them all return back at the Dragons in 2021.

The board would all be collectively hard over deano getting the job.

Cheap? Tick
Old boy? Tick
No experience at another club so doesn't know any better? Tick
Not going to ruffle the feathers at board level? Tick
Power game? Tells the boys to run hard, tick

Fmd.

any person on the planet with a basic understanding of business and no understanding of rugby league could still look at the club and make an informed decision to benefit everyone.

What didn't work?
Internal hires.

What did?
External

It's that simple...

I am not suggesting DY should be appointed as head coach for 2021.

I am on record as saying:

Craig Fitzgibbon or Bennett or Flanagan as much as the last choice irks me.

What I am saying is that DY has the chance to show everyone including prospective employers that he is worthy of employment as a assistant coach, or head coach.

I hope for DY’s sake he makes the most of his limited opportunity.
