So much easier to just list win percentages, and (arguably) more a true measure of on-field success.

Melbourne 63.1
St George 60.7
Brisbane 60.0
Manly 58.0
Glebe 55.9
Roosters 54.9
Souths 53.2
Balmain 53.1
Bulldogs 52.1
Raiders 51.6
StGeorge-Illawarra 50.1
Sharks 49.3
Knights 48.1
Eels 47.3
Newtown 46.9
Panthers 45.7 (we were around 38 just a few short years ago, a really dismal first 15 years or so)
Warriors 45.6
Newcastle (1908-9) 45.00
Wests Magpies 44.9
Wests Tigers 43.1
North Sydney Bears 42.9
Cowboys 41.7
Titans 40.5
Illawarra 40.2
Western/Perth Reds 40.2
Northern Eagles 40.1
Hunter Mariners 38.9
Adelaide Rams 32.1
Gold Coast Giants/Seagulls/Chargers 23.4
Crushers 20.8
University 20.5
Annandale 18.3
Cumberland 12.5

Here is my problem with this. We have also had many years with 8 team comps, 10 team comps etc. Your likelihood of winning in those years is greatly enhanced due to the number of teams in the comp. It's not really a good comparison of the actual likelihood of winning. Makes Melbournes winning run much more impressive.

So the weightings of premierships should reflect that. 8 team comp 12.5% chance of winning. 16 team comp 6.25% chance of winning. A lot more work to work it out. But that's the reality of it.
Yes, I took that into account.

as dumb as this thread is, isnt the word "tally's" ?
Tallies is what i drink at 20 to 8 in the f**ken morning
A tally is a list. A tallie is a coolloquial term for a (mostly) 750ml beer bottle (also known as a longneck).

Perhaps we should only be talking about NRL era (or the ARL era starting in 95) if we’re counting premierships and while pre-95/98 is acknowledged, it should be seen as similar to the BRL premierships

Yes, that is when the NSWRL became a second tier comp and the ARL comp became the first tier comp. So this would give us a premiership tally of:

Brisbane 4
Sydney 4
Melbourne 4
Manly 3
Newcastle 2
Canterbury 2
Penrith 2
Wests Tigers 1
St George Illawarra 1
South Sydney 1
North QLD 1
Cronulla 1

Yep, I agree, this is how it should technically look for tally’s while at the same time acknowledging the BRL/NSWRL premierships separately.

Yep then just do +1 or whatever for nswrl or brl titles.

Reading some of the nonsense on here it appears many would want To erase Don Bradman from the record books or get rid of a Phar Lap as well🤪

They had to merge because they couldn't afford to compete as a single entity, they were given a huge grant for merging. They went cap in hand to the Roosters but that would've been a takeover by the Roosters not a merger and the Saints fans kicked up a huge stink.
This.
