What's a plumber know about running a leagues club? Genuine question!!

Should be a concern and a question a league club member should ask tonight in regards to their plans for the joint. The article quotes are mainly about the NRL team. Didn't come come across very well with the quotes to me.

Bentley should get as much support from the ParraFirst Board of Directors as the previous CEO received from the 3P Board.............

Why?

The previous CEO stated publicly that he couldn't guarantee we would still be there in 5 years. Bentley, regardless of who appointed him, has overseen the shift from a loss making entity to a profit making one, has improved the quality of the premises and has stepped out of the way of running the NRL side of the business when someone better became available (Edwards). You cannot blame Bentley for being forced to take a joint CEO role when Osborne got the flick simply because the Board wanted to save some salary dollars.

IMO the incoming Board would do well to keep stability at senior levels of both the NRL (Edwards) and LC (Bentley) companies because we need both to be strong to be successful and there has been recent improvements in both under the respective leaderships of Edwards and Bentley.

Mate you obviously never got to see those escalators.

Keyboard fans never really leave their own bedroom, so he obviously hasn't felt a post match experience at the club, never had a meal at the firehouse, never had a meal at trophies, never seen the hall of fame area on level 2 but he still has that Tingah palace voucher he's been holding on to since 08... :)

Smoke and mirrors. The Club already turned the corner way before Bentley got the job. Many of the "profits" made in recent time have been on the back of increased valuations of properties invested in, by the previous Management.

Bentley did not get the job on qualification or merit. He was "sourced" as someone that would toe the 3P line.

</SPAN> Bentley = 3P Puppet

I understand, 3P terminated over 30 senior staff, because they were employed by the previous administration. Bentley got the job over more experienced people as skills, knowledge and club experience were considered less important to 3P, then appointing puppets.

HR experience is enough background in running a club

, do you believe the leagues club is in a better state in 08 than it is now??

Stagger,

Financially, that is arguable!

For all the "investment" the 3P Board made, it is not really any better off financially. Remember, those "headline" losses were only on paper because of property write-downs. The same properties that have since appreciated in value and contributed to the subsequent "profits". Look at the numbers, you will see that the NRL increased its grants, so therefore, the Leagues Club needed to spend less on Football. Look closely and you will see declining revenues in other trading areas, especially poker machine takings and membership fees because of declining membership numbers.

The Club may look a bit flashier, but the backbone is cracking because of the 3P egos. "Fitzy" took the Club from a $15M business to a $70M business, yet under 3P, it has gone backwards - and don't even start on the Football.............
