I dunno, I think Sutton is an ok half, Ben Walker is better than Withers IMO. When they're at full strength with the MacDougalls fit I'd back them to take us out. Just they're never on the paddock.

Its Elliots responsibillity to generate the talent. Management has gotten him dozens of high quality juniors. He cant develop enough great players, end of story. I think he has developed two into average first graders the whole time he has been here.

Round 3 and every one is already saying the season is over. Obviously the tigers are a different team, but at the mid point of last season, they seemed to be sliding out of the 8 and heading for a season just like their last. We all know exactly how they finished the season.

If the Raiders are bottom of the ladder after 10 rounds, then these sort of comments are warranted. Possibly it is a case of them not starting the season like they normally do and us all thinking that it will be a very bad season. It is only three rounds in to the season and the competition was never won after three rounds. When the Raiders make a great start to the season, all we tend to hear around here is that the media are so biased and not giving them the coverge they need.

Let's just wait till the season warms up.

Start Todd Carney and make him feel like he's actually wanted by the club! we need to have him ready for '07!! I know its hard to fit him into the team but f**k.. i dunno.. Woolford, take one for the team and retire or go overseas to finish your career.
Oh, and put Zillman into what carney's role is now (off the bench) or put him on the feild to get rid of Mogg or Howell.
Oh and FFS sign a new coach, that might help.

when are you raiders supporters gonna realise that the majority of your players are not first grade standard?
Mathew elliott has had this team performing well beyond its capabilities in the past and you have constantly criticised the guy . I would have thought that making the finals and leading the comp for a good part of the season was a fantastic effort with the players you have .
Last year the panthers were the only team to not have 50 points put on them and alot of clubs had 50 put on them more than once , it happens , espeacially in this day and age , its not the end of the world.
The young guys that you were calling for have been given their oppotunity and so far have failed , they will learn from their mistakes and grow as players , maybe not this year but the eventually will.
Coaches cannot miraculously pull great players out of their arse.
I believe elliott is a very good coach , his record overseas proves that , and i also believe that players are not staying away from the club because of him , i think they are staying away because there are no top quality players.
Lets face it , evryone wants to play with joey , gowie , lockyer , anasta , ox , noddy , barrett , gasnier , hindmarsh ,count , benji , the list goes on , these blokes win games and ultimately premierships.
The raiders will just have to wait for another stuart , daley or mal to emerge , be patient .

Woolford has been one of our best this season, i dont think he should be benched, if anything id say bench whithers, start carney.

Jason Smith hasnt really impressed me the last 2 games, could be due to the fact we are getting killed but even when were looking decent he is MIA, he really needs to get back to what how he was playing last season.

He has been here 5 years and he has been given some of the best raw under 20 talent in the comp to work with, which results in the lower grades show. He has hardly been asked to pull players out of his arse.

Hey... lets fire all the coaches , because i am sure they are telling the players to drop the ball , give away stupid penalties and dont tackle , the players were just following instructions. bullsh*t! Lets fire the players for not honouring thier contracts by not showing up to play .

Im talking about the two SG Ball teams that won comps in the last 4 years. Yes our players are crap but they all once had abillity.

Not it's not Titties, it is another person who knows f**k all about this football club and what goes on here. Elliott has no ability to out think any opposition coach and I can barely recall us turning up since 2003 with anything resembling a game plan. He is a f**king idiot and there are tons of people in this forum that understand the game a lot better than him. How he is an NRL coach is beyond me, i've been saying it for years. I'm surprised it has taken so long for so many people to come around. Bigmac you will see how poor he is soon, that isn't said with malice either. I feel bad for the Panthers because they are a decent club. My bet is the first thing he does is get rid of Gower and buy a hooker to play halfback. Either that or he will still buy the hooker and move Gower to 5/8. Don't expect your players to be fit either.

Long time reader of site, first time contribution and long time passionate supporter of the Raiders.   I have been saying Elliott is the worst coach in the NRL for a while, 2003 was a blipp on the radar IMHO.  When a coach says that Howell, Carney & Withers are the future, then this a man that must strives for mediocrity not what Canberra jersey stands for. Canberra was once a proud club who used to make Sydney teams fear coming down here, but now are a I see no future unless management makes some hard descisions eg comets. cosmos and cannons
Elliott please go now FFS and sign a 'Neil Henry' whos roots are here and is apprentice to the best coach around Graham Murray and I believe represents the future.Chris anderson is only interested in stroking his ego and has no vested interest down here eg Cronulla his own son saga; mso-There is a good outcome out of all this, Elliott would have been resigned had he not signed with Penrith

By playing with heart and determination , something that has gone out the window this year and should be addressed . But blaming elliott for not winning grand finals in the past is ridiculous.
