The idea for the salary cap should be to prevent clubs from going broke.

A more even competition is just a by product.

Can someone please explain how the ANZ is third party sponsor for the bulldogs?

They must be paying for half of their roster.

They just make or break that clubs ability to sign/re-sign players.

And the Sharks didn't need to pay big for other teams juniors like Lewis and Gordon.

If you spent your cap more wisely and prioritised right you'd have kept better talent like Fifita and Lichaa

No they don't, and as long as clubs with small mentalities keep believing that they'll keep on being small clubs e.g. Fifita didn't leave the sharks because he got more at the dogs. He left because the sharks are rudderless and have no direction at any level.

Read the article.
Fifita left Cronulla because he's getting better TPD's at the dogs.
The salary cap contribution of his contract was the same.

Its generally when it is a club sponsor also paying the player seperately for advertising purposes.

Like when Slater was in those Suzuki ads, whilst suzuki was also our sleeve sponsor.

But whats to stop clubs sounding out potential sponsors then telling them hey instead of giving us 100k and getting your logo on our website, give the player 100k instead and they can turn up at a few functions.

The ANZ deal however is bullshit, as if that's not a conflict of interest

Some of the people here want to end up like the epl

Better than turning it in to NSW Cup because clubs can't keep star players in the game

Why should successful clubs be punished because shit teams like Wests can't organise 3rd party deals?

No its not. Fulham have shit house crowds and they are aiming for 12th every season in london which has 6 epl teams for a city of 10 mil.

How would sydney teams go if the best possible outcome for them was 10th every season or their life?
