Can’t see any NRL club touching him, the pressure on their sponsors from the public would be overwhelming. Most of these decisions come down to money not morality and once the sponsors get cold feet that’s when you get action.

Same thing happened to Bill O’Reilly on Fox News, once the advertisers started leaving they sacked him.

Well, he riled someone up enough to dig up a thread from over a year ago
Riled?

He did something newsworthy and I searched the forum for the most recent thread pertaining to him.

Sounds like you're itching to defend the guy - go ahead...

Bit hypocritical of the ARU to take a political stance, but come down on one of their players that do so as well, just because it opposes them.

Izzy is definitely a religious weirdo but he would be great to watch back in the NRL. And when he's gone they would have no one else.
Not sure exactly what RA are hypocritical about, he very clearly violated their code of conduct and in the 24h since he made the posts he's been uncontactable by RA.

And you'll find it's more than just RA who oppose his discriminatory views.

Don't really care if i get blasted for my comment, but why do so many people care what he thinks? I for one don't agree with him but it's still free speech and it's his religion and his beliefs. Just let him do his thing and go on his stupid rants, I don't see why anyone is bothering to bag him off cos i bet he doesn't give two shits about what anyone else thinks. Tbh I'd like to see him back in the NRL purely because he's a freakish talent and would make any team better however the Cowboys seem to be the only team in the comp able to squeeze him in.

Edit: LOL now i see an article on the homepage of MSN titled - "AB's player likes Folaus post"... f**k me the world is soft, report on some real news.

A few here seem to be unaware of the importance of a code of conduct in the workplace.
RAs position on this is clear.
Folau chose to play rugby under a RA contract and then chose to act outside it’s code of conduct and then chose not to explain why to his employer.
He’s free to say whatever he likes but he’s not free to act contrary to his terms of employment without sanction .

He’s an employee bound by the terms of his contract. He chose to put that all at risk. You reap what you sow.

As has been pointed out, he’s free to say whatever he wants but he’s not free from the consequences of those actions.

Go into your office tomorrow and start going on about how all the gays are evil and are going to hell and then when you’re asked to stop saying it keep on going.

See how long you last before your boss asks you for a one on one ending with security showing you the door.

no blast but i disagree with your point.

- free speech isn't a constitutional right in Australia
- he is free to say things, he's not free from the consequences of saying them
- he has literally violated the code of conduct for his workplace on multiple occasions despite warnings to the contrary; and
- he opted not to engage with his employer when they attempted to contact him about said violations.

And that's not even allowing for the fact he's perpetuating discrimination against various groups of people.

I'm not talking about that. I completely understand why he's getting his contract torn up. I'm going on about the public's view on him and wondering why everyone is taking it so personally?

Oh. I’m guessing because he’s behaving like a bit of a merkin, and people generally aren’t fans of that.

I'm still confused as to whether he's doing it to try and brainwash his fans with this rubbish or if he's using it as a personal platform to showcase his beliefs. Whatever it is, he just needs to keep his mouth shut, I don't give a shit what he thinks and no one else should because he's clearly not up with the times and there's no way anyone's convincing him otherwise.

That is pure genius!

And that’s the point. People don’t like him using the platform he’s been given by virtue of being a prominent sportsman to spout bile. If he’s a hardcore religious whacko then whatever, but keep it to yourself and for church mate. Don’t use the megaphone sport has given you to be hateful.

Will he even get registered in the first place. The NRL are cracking down on behaviour and someone slurring gay people will be a bad thing for the image especially in this pc world.

You sound like one of those morons on Facebook.

There's nothing political about his comments. It's just stupid religious diatribe.
