He was drastically overrated before he left, and several years bludging in rugby won't have done a thing to sharpen his abilities.

He'd be a massive waste of cap space for anyone who signs him as you'd be paying $300-400k more Han his actual worth just for his name

So you don't want Jarryd Hayne back in the NRL either? That is the logic of your "position."

Fair point - I wouldn't mind Hayne coming back.

I think he's a little different in that he went to a totally different sport that is not a direct competitor & has never been done before....& it wasn't a money grab.

His move has brought positive exposure to Rugby League.

If he doesn't come back, I don't care. I'd love to see him succeed in NFL so he doesn't need to.

If he were to come back I wouldn't mind but he shouldn't be treated as special case to do so i.e. NRL involvement with his contract.

Plus the cut that the Seventh Day Bike Riders would get.

There's been so much "will he? Won't he?" Over the last few years I'm getting sick of it. Just like Burgess!

He'd be a boon for the code but unless he came back to Storm (will never happen) I couldn't care less about him.

Israel Folau would never have left the NRL, and would have been playing (probably full back by now) for Parramatta if cap regulator Ian Schubert had not taken so long to approve his contract. Izzy got angry and left for union. Schubert lost his job for being so incompetent, but the upshot was an unexpected boost for a dying rugby union code in NSW and Australia.

With Folau and Foran and Semi and good Mannahs in the team, Parramatta would have become an NRL powerhouse in 2016.

Wouldn't of ever left? He had already left the nrl by this stage. He had been a fumbleball player for a few seasons when this situation unfolded

He was a bit overrated. People talk him up as a superstar of the game, but by the time he left he was probably wasn't even the best outside back at the Broncos (Hodges and yow yeh)

In 2010, he was the Broncos best back, albeit by default.

K. Hunt had left the previous season, Hodges had ruptured his achilles in the first week of pre-season and Yow Yeh made a slow start to the season after suffering an injury in the All-Stars game. It wouldn't be until 2011 until Jharal really became of age, and even then, it's debatable whether he was as talented as Folau.

For mine, it's a case of more the merrier. The more guys you have like Hayne, Burgess, Marshall, SBW & Folau, the better for the competition. Elite athletes like them don't grow on trees and despite being promised otherwise, the game never found another Tuqiri, Sailor or even Rogers. Since Folau, the only player of his calibre that has emerged is Tuivasa-Sheck. The rest have only had their moments and have yet to cement themselves as quickly as Inglis, Hayne and Folau did.
