I don't get why they've got their pants off.

They spent so much money buying the TV and projector that they can't afford pants...or a couch it would appear.

No, they needed to be wearing trousers to go to the store and purchase the T.V. and projector in the first place. And the projector is obviously in the front left corner of the room where we can't see it. So they might even have a couch there, too. And their pants have been flung hastily over the arm of the couch in a frenzy of sweat and wanton abandonment? I think that is quite likely. Moreover, I think it's probably a fairly regular activity for these two. They're probably wanted by the police - hence their very sparse hide-out in the middle of nowhere. I'm glad I don't have to live like that anymore. Well, I mean ........
