All the chat on 2UE I'd that they (2UE not anyone from parra) want Griffin to take over as coach.

Hadley has our Administrator on the radio after 9am today so he will push his cause even though he isnt at the football club.

Gutherson has one good game ever two weeks then goes missing against the top teams.
A 650k player should play consistently every week.

Yep, if a guy cannot be consistent week to week he is not making a good argument for a long contract. He should be offered year to year contracts.

Why is Hadley getting involved ? Does he ring up other club CEOs / Chairman and seek staff changes ?

Interestingly if we win this week there is a good chance we are equal 4th (assuming raiders lose to Souths) or equal 5th.

Not a bad result after 10 rounds for a side predicted to come last by many and coached by the one and only BA!!

Even if we lose we will still be equaled 8th at worse. I say many wouId have been happy with this position before the season started.

Not end of the world just yet, but f**k that was a terrible performance!!

Anthony Griffin has been sacked twice and both times he still had his side playing semi’s - that aren’t a good sign.

Josh or Gronk, what have you seen from BA to warrant an extension?

Do you see us able to compete for the title over the next two years?

Im interested to see what the reasons are in him extending

I don't know. If he's getting results (and consistent semi finals means you are t least a chance of winning it) then I don't really care how he gets them

This time last week we were all buzzing with excitement for the future. How can one loss change the views of some of you so quickly ? It's like they have temporary amnesia and when questioned about it merkins start squirming and distancing themselves from the facts.

We are digging ourselves out of a wooden spoon hole. Yes we are inconsistent and unfortunately it seems that its par for the course for a team learning how to win again.

a simple I don’t know or he hasn’t done much would of been sufficient. But thanks anyway.

First I do like BA and have the opinion he has had 5 or so years of absolutely shit support from the board / management which has lead to several disasters - however that’s another argument.

I think BA is currently doing a fairly good job (and did in previous years) this year (yes this week was a disaster but the rest of the season has been fairly decent and while last year was a disaster then appears to be a few reasons why - another argument)

Regarding competing for a title, I don’t think it’s that simple especially for a side like us, firstly we just need to be making the finals consistently first over a few years and build on that (that is what sharks / cowboys did). Once we consistently do that, our culture changes and with some luck, we hopefully can compete for title.

However regarding extending BA’s contract, I cant see anyone available that would do a better job.

Yes plenty of rookies with potential but I just don’t think the eels as a club and after our current review/new structure cant afford to take a risk on a rookie.

If there was a experienced coached with a good record yes definitely we should consider them. Flanagan fits this criteria but obviously he is currently no chance.

Anyhow my decision for BA would be a 2 year extension - this gives us some stability, then monitor the Flanagan situation (and any other experienced options) and see how we go between now and end 2020 - it’s not like we are curently playing like wooden spoons.

Then if needed we can sack BA in 2020 (if I ran a club, I wouId have no issues with sacking a coach in his last year and with the costs involved - it allows the club to be stable as the coach is not off contract and it’s easy to make quick decisions if needed ) if we decided we need a new direction.

Additionally another reason I am happy to keep BA, is it appears we have finally sorted our cap management out, we finally have promising juniors playing NRL with several more potentially debuting in the next few years and our squad is looking good.

Mate there are plenty who think that BA should be renewed. They think he's a good coach and the players respect him. He has a good team around him and the review improved the retention/acquisition of players system. Not one NRL "expert" has come out and said that BA should not get renewed. I was talking to Wendall Sailor at the STG game and he said that everyone he knows speaks highly of BA.

It was a really bad loss on the weekend, but FMD we are on the whole improving and the future looks bright to me.

I know I have said this ad nauseum today, but I fail to understand how a bad loss can turn fans into an angry mob. I just don't get the passive aggressive mindset of some of you .

Mate losing by 50 isn't a good look. Fans can handle getting beaten by a better side but not when the team plays like crap from the 1st tackle.

I always find it particularly funny how the good wins aren't down to the coach but the bad losses are.

Almost like merkins don't understand the nature of a middle of the road footy side.

Every coach who isn't currently employed is average. Fact is, there is not one available coach who would do better in 2019 than Brad Arthur. And I believe quite a few who would do worse.

*cue people with black and white views taking this post as some sort of declaration of BA as a super coach*
