His win percentage at the Broncos since he returned is higher than any other time in his career.

If that was the only relevant consideration he wouldn't be on the outer.

How did he go at a club without the deck stacked completely in their favour?

He won a Comp with Saints and came within a game of the GF for Newcastle. He has been coaching since 1987 and is about to coach his 800th game after winning 7 comps and being runner up once after losing in golden point. Yet people want to question his ability.

Trump runs the free world at 71 years of age, yet People question Bennett because he happens to be 68.

Where have I said he's too old?

I said he's past it and I said he ran Newcastle into the ground so badly they still haven't recovered. I don't care how old he is, I care that he has demonstrated that he is no longer the coach he once was. The fact that Brisbane are allegedly considering giving him the arse is proof of that.

Broncos are looking long term because of his age. Bellamy is 59. The Newcastle thing has been a little over exaggerated. Tinkler did much more damage than Wayne. Not getting paid has an effect on players.

Tinkler and Wayne did pretty equal amounts of f**king the club tbh.

And you can take that to the bank, straight out of the mouth of a former club chairman.

Tinkler didn't sack/sign the players. Tinkler didn't gut the junior program. Tinkler had nothing to do with the salary cap, Bennett was basically given carte blanche in terms of the football side of things.

In fact, Tinkler didn't do much of anything. He spent most of his time swanning about like a billionaire. Which was a problem because he was only a millionaire.

Look I wouldn’t go after Bennett either. I just don’t like people dismissing his amazing career because of the Newcastle stint. Even the great Jack Gibson was sacked prior to coming to us in 1981 and did nothing with Cronulla when he left yet he is still revered.

I'm not dismissing his career though.

You asked if we would take him now, I answered.

I think its irrelevant anyway. I don't see Bennett coaching beyond this final stint at the Broncos and if he had a choice to go to any club we would be close to his last option.
