Well if we've been in better form during his eight years, and he's seen the players more or less close than they are now, and it hasn't mattered, and he's trained them harder and easier than they are now, and that hasn't mattered either, why should he be able to pinpoint either of those things as causes this time? You think his public comments reveal anything at all about what's happening, and you somehow know more about coaching than a dude who's coached 100 NRL wins. You're obviously just seizing on anything at all to confirm your bias. You're the ones who look like dopes. And when it's pointed out you get hostile.
BA looks like the dope. You often do too.

Smart arse.
Obviously not everyone wearing a particular jersey number is necessarily playing the same role as any other merkin wearing the same number at a different club or in a different year.

If you break it down even just by percentage of their team's touches you see some interesting differences. Looking at last round (chosen because the round is complete), and just for shiggles I've also added columns showing the percentage of that player's touches that were kicks and runs:

Player wearing 7 last weekNumber of touchesPercentage of team's touchesPercentage of his touches that were kicksPercentage of his touches that were runs
Clune8919.110.16.7
Trindall6616.316.712.1
O'Sullivan6414.77.812.5
Pearce6914.614.515.9
Luai5513.810.920.0
Dearden5613.117.914.3
Brooks5713.015.810.5
Cherry-Evans5512.920.010.9
Moses4312.923.29.3
Williams4112.031.712.2
Averillo4911.820.412.2
Hughes4811.822.914.6
Sexton4211.721.414.3
Reynolds4410.220.511.4
Kelly379.921.632.4
Walker449.913.625.0

Most interesting is to look at the outliers, but even among the players in the more central distribution, it's clear that not every number 7 is playing the same role in his team. It's also obvious that this is a snapshot of a single round, and a player's involvement and run/kick rate depends on a number of external factors, including who else is in his team that week (especially his halves partner) and the opposition.

The profile of the club would definitely go to the next level if Fittler replaced BA. I bet Moses would have more chance of becoming an elite player. Gutherson would also definitely stay because everyone would like an in to the NSW team.
We said the same shit with Stuart, and in the end the eels were f**ked and the media kept giving fluff pieces of Stuart how he was up against it, and pictures of him feeding cute and cuddly animals the next day after a big loss.

I didn't think Tim Mannah was cute or cuddly, but point taken...

In other words, fairly meaningless.

Only if you think these stats have a random distribution. Over a season you would see definite trends in a player's involvement relative to the other members of his spine, and likewise you would see some players running and kicking more often than others. It would tell you a lot about the game that you'd miss from watching and only remembering the highlights.

But they didn't fade in and out of games like Moses - and they both had better running games. Moses does not take the line on enough. Not anywhere near enough.

Is that a joke? Moses running game is twice as good. His weakness is sticking to a game plan. Everything else is top shelf.

He’s a bloody good halfback these days. Someone should tally up how many halfbacks we’ve had since Sterlo, cos we have been waiting for one like Moses for that long.

But he’s not a GOAT !

We have had 37 halfbacks since sterlo retired.

Only 4 have got to 50 games (T smith, Robson, Sandow, Moses)

And mitch is the only one to crack the century.
