Oh well, if (apparently) winter is coming, then Freddy is prolly as good as the next coach. Super merkin Bennett has shown from his tenure at Knights and Broncos, that you can’t put lipstick on a pig.

BA has shown that there is a glass ceiling if you just gather a team of good, dedicated players. Yes i know, history shows that it CAN be done Balmain 2005 etc, but I still form the view that it was a Stephen Bradbury win.

Might as well give Freddy the gig. I’d prefer him over the other unemployed FG coaches or the next Bellamy understudy.
The profile of the club would definitely go to the next level if Fittler replaced BA. I bet Moses would have more chance of becoming an elite player. Gutherson would also definitely stay because everyone would like an in to the NSW team.

Agree, but Ricky Stuart still haunts me. Although his failure prolly had a lot to do with the nutters in charge of the club as much as his abilities.

Fittler would take your club back 36 years .Actually then you might be a chance to win.Fittler won origin on the back of tommy turbo .You need a experienced NRL coach

Cool story.

Yeah I really liked it and it didn't even have a twist in the end. We all knew who the culprits were from the outset, but that in a way is what made it interesting I suppose. It's probably due to the story teller more then the story. He has a certain honesty and clarity about him that cuts to the chase. Well worth the read.

Peace out. 😊

To build a club you need grass roots. Not buying guys from here and there. You want them to come in via your system and feel part of the club.
Is this BA fault? Yes and no. It isn't his problem we do not have as many juniors. But his fault with somemof the kids we've let go.
Alioi,Stephano,Twal,Remis Smith,Tuikamacha, Doorey Matterson first time around come to mind....
7 juniors who we missed who have turned into good established NRL players. They where here and part of our system. This is how you build a team. Instead we have

D.Brown,Kafusi,Jnr and even though we developed Matterson we still let him go and only bought him back due to big bucks.
I will also add Mahoney.

So in 8yrs we've since BA come added D.Brown,Kafusi and Mahoney from our junior system. Jnr was already in first grade. Matterson wasn't even making our NSW cup side as we didn't rate him.

Yet 6 guys are playing elsewhere. There is I am sure more like BBO. A list would be nice for people more in the know of who was part of our jnr set up during BAs days.

Yes I know we may not of signed Papali'i or Cartwright but I have banged on about this for years. Want to build a club you need close to 50% of your side being juniors.

@TheRam Please let me know thoughts on this.

Add following

Keppie, Schuster, Ola’kamatu, Curran, Saab, Biondi Odo

You are bang on Hindy. What is even worse, is that we don't seem to be able to spot and keep real high end talent at all since Brian Smith left our club. Genuine rep quality players that have come though our juniors system. I don't believe the club or the posters on here that we have turned the corner, I almost started to, but current events and seeing Manly flaunt so many of our juniors has proven we are still way behind the real talent recruiters and shakers. I am not talking or interested in putting a good system in place. I want the very best and highest standard, a GREAT system in place.

A good system is for the also rans and sometimes you win and sometimes you lose types. Yeah sure, if you have a great system in place, it is inevitable that you will have to let some go, but in a great system, the very best are seldom let go. The ones that go are the ones you deem excess to requirement after you have assessed the ones you want to keep, not before.

In a great system, when these kids are coming through, they all want to be part of a great setup and and play with their mates. They want to see if they can push their way through and joint the elite company of their junior club that they love and are proud to be part of. They know that for whatever reason if they can't consistently make it to that top 17 that it isn't the end of the road for them and that the great club and system that they have been part of will have given them the breeding within them and the traits that other clubs are desperately looking for and will offer them an opportunity elsewhere if it comes to that. But in a great system, the first and only choice when coming through is to make it with your cherished junior club and mates to ultimately win a premiership together. You can't put a price on that for most young kids, if you have a GREAT system in place.

If Gould poached our best junior development person, then it is high time we poach him back. We are the EELS not the Neville nobody Panthers or any other club in this State ffs. We need to reinvest in the best minds from top to bottom if we want to be the best. A lot of the best in the game came from us and we lost them due to a whole bunch of reasons prior to the new admin and I am sure money wasn't always the deciding factor. We need to start thinking like champions and how to get there.

Gould has always been right about us from our playing roster(mentality) to our development, or lack of it, wise. That is why he could come in and poach our best. He obviously convinced them that they will be given the support that we obviously weren't prepared to give. Money isn't what I am referring to. We spend big on our juniors, for little result. There is no need to reinvent the wheel ffs, just hire some of the best mind at junior development. Get rid of that nong that is crueling our junior setup that a poster here once wrote about a little while ago, I forget his name and move forward with as little politics as possible.

We need a GREAT junior system setup, nothing less if we want to be GREAT. You can't win premierships if you have to constantly import more than half your playing roster with NRL players from other clubs. If they are any good, they will be to expensive and generally they rarely ever play as well as they do if they collectively came through our own junior setup for obvious reasons.

Parra Great, not Good.

Arthur is so f**king clueless it’s embarrassing
“We could sit here for the next three months trying to work it out. Have we done too much? Have we not done enough? Do all the players get along? Do they not get along? I’ll never get to the bottom of that

How could the numbnut not know if the players get along or not? He f**king spends 5 or 6 days a week with them. Also, why bring that up at all in the media? If he knows there are issues just tell the merkins we have a tight playing group.

He really does have no f**king idea.

How has this bloke lasted this long??? Totally defrauded the club and the entire fans base. I’m sick of looking at his dopey face.

Well Im doing a BBQ mixed grill tonight with vegies. Washed down with my favourite Aldi Red. My plan is to eat early so our boys and BA in particular dont give me indigestion.
Im looking forward to the forum tonight. OMG it will be a humdinger if we lose.
No excuses boys. We will probably know after the first 5 minutes if they were as embarrassed as BA thinks they were last week. 🤔

1. Russell
2. Blake
3. Penisini
4. Drown
5. Sivo (only if he learns to work harder)
6. Gutho (C) - not extended beyond 2022
7. Moses
8. Paulo
9. Mahoney (C)
10. Campbell-Gillard
11. Lane
12. Cartwright
13. Matterson

14. Kaufusi/Niukore
15. Nrown
16. Papali'i
17. Perham

Let Gutho play out his contract at 6. We need more speed outside and there are no viable backs available so turn Drown into a Centre, bring Russell into FB and all of a sudden we have some pace in the backline.

Nrown needs to come off the bench to keep us with momentum and if we need to rest 2 edge forwards, we have Papa and Niukore for that role.
Train Perham up to be a replacement dummy half as well and he covers 9, and 1-7 as required.

Go all out for a new 6 for 2023 (maybe that Pryce kid in the UK).
I dont know when Drown's contract is up, but I'd be astounded if he wanted to stay here and play centre. I think any switching to centre will only be temporary for him, so we'll need to buy one/make one when he goes. I'm now liking the idea of trying Gutho at five-eight.
I am totally convinced we need a change of coach; but the elephant in the room is Mitch Moses. I doubt he is capable of taking a team to a grand final. He has a great kicking game but, really, little else.
