We looked a totally different team last night, good to see finally some speed in the backline.

I reckon we won it because we denied Storm field position. A whole lot of things go in to achieving that, but the team completed 90% and folllowsped the game plan perfectly.

All our tries except the last one, we had many decoys making the storm make bad decisions. This is how you attack. Not hit up after hit up. Even Drown looked dangerous and I don’t recall him having a great deal of runs.

We actually used some nice plays to pull the Melbourne defence apart. It wasn’t just the usual boring put the bomb up and hope they spill the ball and jag a lucky try. The speed and execution of our passing game was much better.

We had players in motion in attacking plays, decoys, short passing between forwards, and we had our best attacking weapon in Cartwright playing proper minutes.

Last night was not bushy style. It was like they were coached and given a game plan by someone else.

Melbourne’s line speed was poor from about 20 mins and it gave us the space in attack. They didn’t like spending most of the match coming out if their own end, so our kicking game and chase was obviously on point.
