I don't think it's been entirely on BA for our results this year. The football department has been short staffed all year. Our preparation has been shit.

This is true. Max has been a disaster.
I mean, I would rather the guy who cheated the salary cap.

I don’t get the theory that BA won’t appoint someone with more experience than him, he actually appointed Gentle as his assistant who had more experience then him.

Gentle was head coach of Hull in the UK super league before he joined the eels. He was also an assistant to Tim Sheens at the tigers and I think he was involved as an assistant to the Kangaroos.

It appeared Gentle had a lot more experience then BA had when he was appointed.

One big problem for NRL coaches that are struggling is that they struggle with media duties, so they find it hard or impossible to articulate to the fan the way they plan to change things for the future.

I've literally never heard an NRL coach say anything remotely interesting about the game and I've never learned anything about the game from an NRL coach. Until they retire and become commentators.

For example fans had to find out about wrestling (the most important aspect of 2018 RL) for themselves. I actually think fans of the game should pat themselves on the back for working this stuff out because we have had zero assistance from the coaching fraternity.

In my opinion coaches bring terrible salesmanship to the game so they better bring results or they are cut.

Why won’t he change our attack? He has before, just search the forum for middle half and paulo, our attack is different from then.

He has recruited Paulo and Ferguson, who will change our attack. Paulo gives a big body in the middle with ball playing ability, Ferguson gives us the best metre maker in the game.

Additionally we should have an off-season with both Gutho / Hayne / Moses and Mahoney all available (they were either injured, on rep duties or not considered last year).

Don't forget Lane who has been a threat close to the line at manly this year. Now so much so that he's even a threat when he runs a decoy, thus preventing the inside defence from sliding earlier which should open up the defensive line out wide for our halves and backs. Hopefully we use the short ball to forwards close to the line next year, both Lane and Paulo are good at this. And we have Stefano coming through next year, if the NRL changes the Top 30 to a Top 36, he's also very good close to the line particularly 2 off the ruck.

Which is shit at winning 16 games, shows we were a Clayton’s top 4 side.

Also shows how one flogging can f**k your F/A for the year!

Roosters finished 2017 with a 72 plus and us a 39 plus, which is basically because they flogged us 48 to 10.

Also maybe BA should get some credit for being able to get that “clayton” side to a top 4 finish and mask some of the problems from the 2016 disaster !!!

Assistant coach in NRL is a good gig. You can command $200-400k plus the coach cops all the heat.

Apart from the Manly game where we were horrible, we were pretty competitive during the first 10 rounds or so (where our season was lost) however it was our attack (just couldn’t score and sweeping play wasn’t working) that was terrible!! And during that period we never had Hayne / Gutho together.

WouId have been interesting if we had started the year with a fit Hayne / Gutho and Mahoney at hooker.
We were horrible against the Tigers, Canberra. We have really only shown much since the new trainer came on board IMO.

We were fairly competitive against the raiders but our attack was horrible and cost us the game.

Yeah we weren’t the best against the tigers!!

Get the Walker Brothers in.
Make Shane Walker Co-Head coach and attack coach with Ben as assistant attack coach.
Make Ben Walker Co-Head Coach and defense coach with Shane as assistant defense coach.

I think there is also another Walker brother, but what is his name? Get him in as well.

Just like you had NFI know who the QLD hooker was this year?

says it all

LOL!!!

We were absolutely diabolical in attack, the Raiders were shit as well. I suppose only losing by 12-14 points is acceptable for you but we were dogshit.
