I nearly choked on my cornflakes when I read that this morning. Patrick Smith making sense, whatever next.

I think that News didn't realise that they also had to censor the work of their AFL writers and not just their NRL writers. My guess is that he got a call early this morning from someone in the News bunker and will have a RL is dying piece positioned prominently on the back page tomorrow morning.

at any rate manly and rooter stayed loyal cause they ran the comp. parra have denis... every club had its reasons for loyalty/disloyalty.

Manly were broke and Arko was running the game in the late 90's. the Bears put up their hand for Gosford because they were told to do so - basd on a lie about NSO. The only reason Manly stayed "loyal" was because the fix was in to declare Norths broke (despite $10 million+ and Gosford) and cull them.

If the criteria was half-fair, Manly would have come last on crowds, ground etc etc.
