The team had 23 chances for that - I love how we focus (understandably) on the 'make or break' games, but it was the gutless performances agains Cronulla that cost us a spot in the semis (amongst others) - if only we played harder in TWO more matches, we would easily be in the 8. Given how much effort Cayless always puts in each week, it is very, very frustrating and annoying. The younger players should be embarrassed and ashamed.

Team doesn't give a sh*t... I reckon the "doin' it for Caylo" was just some media spin to try and get some fans along to what have turned into our end of season games?

I was about to start a post about this.

In 2007, it was do it for hindy. LOL, the Cowpats smashed us.

What about just do it for yourselves.

Sorry, would need to win more than 2 games, but you get my drift :)

Gotta feel sorry for Cayless, tries his best, he's been the heart and soul for Parramatta for a long time. Shouldve won a premiership in his career.

It just sh*ts me to finish off his career in a team that's got no heart and attitude. Been pathetic all year. What does that tell you about the other players response to Cayless' retirement. Terrible.

If only he could carry on for one more season.

Lol, looked like it.....

I can't laugh at that...

Nathan Cayless is a legend of this club and deserves better than the sh*t his team dished up this season. It's very, very sad that he has to retire from his beloved Eels on this note.

It is exactly what I expect from the players in this club, I don't think the situation is funny but the fact that they went out of their way to say it like they meant it was pretty funny considering their track records in speaking to the press.....

Yeah, mate - I know what you mean. We all love this club to death, but, honestly...Who never saw it coming?

I will NEVER stop supporting this club I love so dearly, but when it comes to players' milestones or great achievements, the Eels of the last 20 years just have never been able to aim up. I'm not sure why, but it's true.

The moment they came out and said they were "doing it for Caylo" I knew, deep down, we were no chance. And it pains me to say it, but it's true.

The saddest thing would be for us to lose next week against the Warriors at his final game ( which is looking very likely). At least i hope the crowds good but judging by tonights performance i think alot of the fairweather fans are going to give it a miss.

They seemed motivated for the first 5 mins... and strangely again only when the game was out of reach at the end, and they grubbered him a try.

I don't know what's going on inside their heads. They must think they're f**king superstars who can pull wins out of their arses - call it the "Hayne effect"?

Hopefully sitting out the semis will prove to all of them (Hayne as well) that they aren't special, and have to work hard like other teams to get the results.

or maybe we're just not good enough? The Warriors are a quality side.

when we repell 4 straight sets in the first half I'd take issue with anyone who says they didn't give a sh*t.....
