Its a BIG NO from me.
Wouldn't touch the enigma if he came for free.
Don't want a guy like him around our club and our players.
I hope this is a gee up?

I would swap Lafai for nearly anyone??,,, but Hayne, No thanks!
Give a young bloke a go.

There was an article in the Newcastle Herald this week that the Knights are holding back 2.2 million of salary cap to plunder the few teams that are rumoured to need to shed players to be compliant. And Parra was no 1 on that list.

What are they paying their current players - peanuts ? How could they possibly have that much in reserve especially considering Ponga and Pearce to name a couple .

But back to the chosen one Jarrad Hayne , he could indeed be a big plus in attack and his defense is good , I believe that he would be worth a year or two , but as most have already said. - only at the right price and not a penny more .

Channel 7 reporting we are making an offer.

As a player yes but I’ve come across him a couple of times & he’s a complete knob
Have a friend who works in massages in Newcastle, and has basically had 1 on 1 interaction with most players in the league as they play games in newcastle and need post game massages. They said Hayne has repeatedly been one of the friendliest and kind players out of the hundreds that have gone there.

Apparently Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk are number 1 though in terms of friendliness.

And before everyone makes the obvious "massages joint" joke, know it's an officially NRL approved sports and conditioning centre, not whatever place you're thinking!

I’m a bit mixed on Hayne. He did have a great ending to the season on the back of trying to position himself for a new contract.
For me it’s not a question of talent but desire/motivation which may be high because I think we are better positioned than Parra in the short to medium term giving him a better chance to deliver.
Anyway it’s the off-season, it’s probably just another beat up.

Damned if we do and damned if we don’t. I’m not a fan of his attitude but he does have undeniable skill and we can’t be a premiership contender without a more potent backline. He can get across the stripe and he is a big game player come finals time. He could however poorly influence our younger players with his attitude. That’s where Graham would need to be active.

Hayne is 30 years old so he still has a couple of years, yes it's a bit of a gamble but he has proven himself in the past. I say yes. Our back line needs something, I think we all know that and he could be that something or not ha ha

Maybe I was unlucky both times, but he also could have grown up since as it was when he first played for parra

At first my response was No. But after giving it some further thought. I would take him and play him centre with Lomax the other centre. If Dufty doesn't improve his deficiencies then I would consider moving Hayne to fullback.

I previously said that Hayne could have a toxic effect on the team. The teams he has played for has collected numerous wooden spoons. He went to the Gold Coast and they looked to have a top 8 team the addition of Hayne, but the next year they were pathetic and Hayne was mentioned as having a negative effect. He is definitely better than Lafai, Aitken, and any other wingers we currently have. I also wouldn't be paying him anything more than 450K a year. I don't think he has recaptured the form he was in before he went to play gridiron, but if he could, then he would be welcome addition to our team. He may even see a window of opportunity to win a comp with us.
