With Foran it was only going to be Manly or the Dogs,no other club would have been in the race.

2014? We are not even half way though 2012 yet and we have not got our full playing roster for 2013 and we thinking of signing someone in 2014 a lot can happen in that time.

I don't think Pearce is worth it anyways he is a very solid halfback but seriously up until rep season came up he was hardly a world beater, plus in 2 years I am sure their will be better halfbacks on the market/in the juniors not to mention that if any club gets in a bidding war with the Roosters, Easts will win everytime.

I know Vidot has been talking up the dragons to his mates at the Raiders. They are youthful down there and have some good young halfbacks that could come cheaper, be moulded into dragons football easier and don't come over rated. One in particular is very interested. Watch this space.

Hmmmmm, time will tell. Agreed, let's get through this years campaign first.

Just want to go on record as saying gee I hope a young kid from our ranks gets groomed as a half-back. Nothing would make me prouder supporting from Kogarah and Wollongong.

Anyways, GO THE DRAGONS!

Forgot to add that no matter the opinion on Pearce, unless his game goes right down the Gurgler before his next contract signing, which is doubtful,he is likely to command similar coin to what Cherry Evans and Foran is rumoured to be signing for, somewhere in the $600-$700,000 range simply because of his current standing and the next television deal which if it goes for over a billion there is a fair chance next years cap will be over $5 mill per team.
I agree that it would be preferable to develop our own or sign someone for less coin, though if he is the best available if we dont go after Thurston then we would have to pay the market rate, which if he is already on $400,000 will be a fair way above that.

I don't think the Dragons will be looking to pay big money for Pearce. We don't pay big money for anyone these days! Price has said he will look at Kyle to become our next half. The Cronk affair was all bulls**t I reckon. His manager probably sounded out other clubs to inflate his price. Cronk was, and always will be, a died-in-the wool Storm player.

We offered big money for Cronk.

Price has said he will look at Kyle to become our next half.

He said that Kyle will take over when Hornby retires in the halves...not necessarily at halfback.

The Cronk affair was all bulls**t I reckon.

Wrong.

As for Pearce, I dont rate him on the field and I rate him even less off the field.

I would be happy for us to target young Williams or Townsend or even Thurston.

In my opinion we should try and get Thurston and pair him with Soward, Stanley or King.

1. Morris/Nightingale/Beale

6. Kyle Stanley
7. Thurston

9. King

Would be a ridiculously good "Spine".

Hmmmm, I dunno. I'm in the same boat as you Bottle. There's something that irks me about him as a person.

The media has hyped him up, naturally, because of his old man. In the big games I really don't think he has aimed up (i.e., the GF, SOOs). And I agree, he doesn't do anything more than what people 'criticise' Hornby for.

I hope to God we develop a junior for our half-back. I'll have a lot of pride watching the Dragons being steered around the paddock by a General from our own ranks.

In sentiment I agree with your last paragragh, but we did that only a couple of seasons ago with Beau HENRY, who was the the best player in the NYC with daylight second. Look what happened to him, he's now playing for oblivion, likely never to be seen again.

Thurston now thats a laugh like the whole Cronk situation was never going to happen and to think otherwise is ridiculous.

Pearce is another that won't happen his old man hates the Dragons and would advise him to stay put and surely the Roosters aren't that foolish to let him go.

The Dragons do have options in the NYC Clune, Jones and Neill are good young players who if moulded right I can see playing first grade and Holbrook is a good coach.

Townsend is the guy that club should look at and I have heard they have spoken to his manager he isn't happy at the Sharks and it was a slap in the face when they signed Carney and Robson.

How do you know this for sure? No figures were ever mentioned except in the media. How do you know Cronk would have accepted anyway?

He said that Kyle will take over when Hornby retires in the halves...not necessarily at halfback.

Well if doesn't actually play halfback he will be five eighth which these das is almost the same thing.

Wrong.

How do you know the Cronk saga was not bulls**t? It happens all the time with these big name players playing one club off against the other. The biggest rumours about Cronk were probably started on this forum.

As for Pearce, I dont rate him on the field and I rate him even less off the field.
I agree with you on this point

I would be happy for us to target young Williams or Townsend or even Thurston.

I would love to see a internal recruit come through to play in our halves, though what is the history for the Pearces not to want to play for the Saints, either way I back the best option allowing for the increase in the salary cap which may well be over 5 mill a year per team if the Tv deal is over 1 billion .
