Dragons' Lam coup

IN A major coup, master coach Wayne Bennett has recruited Adrian Lam to the Dragons.


Considered one of the best up-and-coming coaches in the game, Lam will join the club as the Toyota Cup coach, but will also assist Bennett with the NRL side.
The Daily Telegraph has been told Lam had a falling-out with Brad Fittler at the Roosters, with Freddy failing to utilise the ex-halfback in his role as assistant. Lam was dumped when Brian Smith replaced Fittler.
Lam jumped at the opportunity of working under Bennett and will begin his duties next month when St George Illawarra begin the pre-season.

Not sure how true ti is as it has not been mentioned anywhere else and no one is quoted in the article. Just thought i would share with anyone and see if anyone has heard anything.

Not sure just how much of a coup this is.

Lam was the coach of a pretty talented bunch of under 20's in 2008... they were in the spoon position when he was "promoted" half way through the year to Freddy's assistant. The NYC side subsequently got a new coach and lifted off the bottom. I'm not all that convinced. We'll wait and see

We were linked to Lam a fair while ago - can't recall in coach or player capacity though. He ended up going/staying in England at the time.

I think it is a good thing, if it's true. You can never have too much experience, especially from an ex-half. I'm thinking he will coach the U20's then run the water for 1sts aka Alfie at the Broncos. Steve Price will be up in the box with Wayne.

Fair enough. The line "[Lam] will also assist Bennett with the NRL side" was a tad ambiguous.

There are few part-time assistant coaches. This forum is full of them. ;-)

Pretty much. From what I heard he did an ordinary job with the boys. Good luck to him though.

Saints now have more PNG players than any team. They should Change their name to St George Illawarra Dragon Kumuls. Just to make the name longer than it allready is.
