Dragons Main Problems

Shaun Timmins has been a great player, but injuries and age has slowed him down to where he is no longer a danger to opposition defences.
Lance Thompson has also been a very good tough and uncompromising footballer and a great clubman for the Saints, but he too is long past it. He no longer intimidates anyone and is just a liability.
Jason Ryles the most over rated and over paid player in the comp. He`s never had a go for NSW and he never has a go in the big important games.

Thommo has had a fantastic year. A couple of dropped balls on Saturday night but who didnt.... His defence has been superb and nobody gives more on the field for us than him.

Ryles doesnt look agressive but his go forward cant be questioned. I thought he was quiet when I saw it out there but on replay he made some great runs and was again soild in defence. We miss his defence behind the ruck when he is off and it shows. When he tackles, the momentum stops dead. People line up to hassle Ryles becasue he doesnt play as agressively as some, but thats just his go. I think he is a great player and it seems the selectors agree.

Well i hope the coach takes your advice and keeps picking these has beens. I`ll tell you now that the Dragons will not make a Grand Final as long as they keep picking these blokes that i named. I know it`s sad, but it`s true!!!

And i forgot to mention that Dean Young should only be played as a back rower, preferably lock. Creagh needs to get his head out of his ass and realise that as good as he potentially is, you neeed to make more than 20 tackles per game to become a top class back rower.
I know Greenshields only played because of Head`s injury and that he did have plenty of good games in 1sts, but you don`t have to be Einstein to realise that to compete at the elite level you need a very good and very fast fullback. Don`t get me wrong, i like Greenshields as a footballer, he`s very whole hearted, but he really should find another position other than fullback. Being fair dinkum, Luke Covell would be as quick as Greenshields!

You are scaring me today. I am agreeing with you on things. I am a buyer when it comes to Ryles. I don't get the MIA allegation that is so often made. Yeah he sometimes has quieter games but some of the offlaods and other stuff he pulls off is pretty sublime too. I don't think you have to monstering guys heads on the ground to be an effective prop.

Timmins
Played 25 games this year in a team which made the preliminary final.
Last Saturday, he made 25 tackles, 2 offloads, 13 hit ups, 86 metres. Too many miss tackles by his standards but Saints were battling with just 34% possession at half time.
His 2005 figures are an improvement on his 2004 figures when he was lauded as a match winner for NSW. Timmins has improved upon his hit ups, metres gained, offloads, and tackles.
To any coach with a grasp of the game, he is an asset.
Thompson
Regarded as one of the toughest forwards in the game and hardest tacklers. Ball runners avoid him. His running just wide of the ruck has seen him score 7 tries in 2005. He has played EVERY game this year (26) in a team which made it to the preliminary final.
He made more tackles than anyone else on the field last Saturday, 44 in all. Plus he backed up with 10 hit ups, making 63 metres.
In 2005, Thommo has improved out of sight with metres gained compared to the previous season. He is also an experience campaigner and an asset on the field.
Ryles
Played 21 games for Saints in 2005. Plus NSW. He has been selected in the train-on squad for the Kangaroos. Perhaps you should send the Australia selectors an email.
In Saturday's P-Final, he made 37 tackles and hit up as often as he could - 16 times, running 109 metres with the ball - almost identical to Luke Bailey's figures.

Objective One, Ryles has been great for us and just has a different approach to his game than traditional front rowers. He doesnt need to bust heads or pull off crunching hits to be effective and he knows it, he just does his job with little fuss and his temperament has improved with each year. Far less penalties and far less high shots than previous seasons.
