Ch 7. reports that due to Salary Cap restraints, PC will be released at the end of 2007, with Saints & Sharks the favourites to secure his services for 2008...

Anyone ???

Thoughts on how long he has left at the top???

i would only sign him to a maximum 2 year deal, i think he would be a good buy and would prove to be great for the younger forwards. Would we be able to get him if we retain Ryles though??

It would feel strange to be the club benefiting from another club's inability to hang onto local juniors/club stalwarts - when the shoe is usually on the other foot...

depends how they use him

he could be used as a great mentor for alot of the young forwards we have coming through. especially if we can keep ryles as well.
those two blokes - and wooldoor sockbat at hooker - would make a great front row to lead some young guys.

but saying that - if brown gets his hands on a quality player like PC - it will f**k him.

It would appear that we are clearing the decks for someone.
There are worse players on the market than big Petero, but in the event that we are chasing him (regardless of whether or not we pick him up) it begs the question....
Why let Bailey go then clear the decks to chase a similar status/vintage front rower just a season or so later...

I would imagine that the Scum would have to offload Ross to pick up Petero... no club (other than the Rorters and a few other alleged cheats) could afford to keep two front rowers on the books at $400 per year.

It is more than a little interesting that the Broncs are willing to lose Petero within a year or so of losing Webcke... they must see something in Joel Clinton that nobody else has seen for a few years now...

The story I'm hearing is that Bailey was leaving regardless of money, and it had to do with personal reasons, not club or money.

Whilst I lament his loss at every opportunity, I have heard that no matter what, Bull was not staying. My opinion, however, is we needed to sign someone who played the role of Bailey.

I reckon piss off Sims and sign Sevntycentsalitre as quick as we can. He'd be a great mentor for the young forwards coming through and is still and Australian international so why not sign him!

It would overall be good for the club but for no more then 2 years. He is quite old after all.

I reckon we should bring on PC. If he can maintain the way he plays for the next two years, how on earth isnt 400K good enough? With the amount of money thrown on some of the players given their output on the field, it makes me sick! PC is a f**king work horse who knows nothing more than giving 130% each game. With younger players like Creagh around him, i think itll be awesome.

Speaking of Creagh, he's our pride and honour. Week in, week out. God love him!

400k on an older, slower prop that could be subject to injury, and will assist in booking up an already overloaded cap, and help to tie up 700k + of 4 mil when we're losing juniors at a rapid rate and will lose more?

...

You're not Peter Doust himself are you?

Sims, 22, has been given permission by St George Illawarra to look elsewhere even though he has 18 months left on his current deal.

An Illawarra junior, Sims is believed to be devastated at being shown the door but at the same time is excited about the chance to work under Bennett, particularly as the Broncos have already head-hunted his younger brother Korbin for their elite-player development squad.

Will the Dragons give him an early release?

i think Petero would be a great signing if we could get him for 2 years, can anyone remember him having a serious injury??? he seems quite durable and would be a much more sensible, safer option than Ryles to lead our young front rowers around

Wish they got rid of Poore. He is soooo f**kced that no one would want him. Gives away toooo many stupid penalties. They should keep Sims and get rid of Poore..............

He is letting the players down more than anyone else with his stupidity.........Geez I hope he gets suspended for a few games for his swinging arm. It would help the team big time.

dude,
fair point regarding the salary cap, but id be more than happy seeing PC who is no where near as injury prone as other players running in our team. Look at his stats, game in game out. He runs more metres than most and tackles more than most.. He is in the top 3 forwards in the game without a doubt.

Everyones got there own opinion, but in my eyes the Dragons lost BIG time when Bailey left. And quite frankly Ryles hasn't stood up. I'm not bagging Ryles, because he's not the only player at fault, but im a certain believer that PC can play a more stabilising leadership role in our forward pack. Who knows, maybe if we have PC, Ryles can stand up more like he used to when the Bull was mauling our opposition every week.

Peter who? lol.
