Cooper, Creagh, Fien, Merrin, Soward, or Weyman would all make excellent Captains both on and off the field and could handle all the responsibilities that come with being a Captain easily.

These are all grown men we are talking about. Not school children.

Weyman? are you serious?
imagine him at a press conference... jesus.....

Dead serious, eloquence doesn't equal intelligence. I'd add Morris and Nightingale to that list too, but they're wingers.

Mr. Red, I'm not trying to be a smart-arse, but why do you even support the Dragons?

If Mitch Rein continues to develop, and play big minutes, he would be my choice as captain in a couple of years. His improvement this year is terrific.

Fire, I think we may have found our new BBC!

Soward should be made our next captain...he would love the responsibility and IMO it would bring out the best in him. It won't happen of course - our next captain will be B Creagh.

I don't see Creagh as a leader, doesn't really step up to the mark when the going gets tough. I see Merrin developing into leadership material, towards the end of this season he has stepped up and led by example IMO.

Creagh is tough. I don't know why you would say he isn't. Didn't you watch the game against the Cowboys? After the fracas, Creagh took the first hit-up knowing the opposition would be looking for a big hit. Yes, Ben Creagh is tough enough.

Not denying he is tough. He always hits the ball up with purpose but I can't say I've ever seen him firing up the troops or doing a lot of talking. Hate to mention the Sharks but look at the influence Gallen has on the Sharks.

Nobody here is qualified to answer this. How many have heard a pre game address in the sheds? Been to a team meeting? Exactly.

The players will have an obvious leader they vote on. The rest are on the outside getting a very small look in.

Threads like this arent worth the electrons used to create them. Its like the 'whos the best coach' threads....unless youve been on the inside, how can you say?

Exactly.

It's a shame Night plays on the wing because he is the player I most respect and it sounds like all the players feel the same.

as much as i see Trent Mez as a future Dragons skipper i reckon Pricey will go with Ben Creagh for nxt year

he might even go for a co captain thing which the newish coaches seem to do

Now that the NRL TV deal has been done, Doust needs to front Soward and offer an extention which would include:
A pay rise - I understand he is on about 300k
A further 3 years
The Captaincy
Personal coaching from Joey Johns

Soward would make a great Captain if only he could sort out his confindence problems and learn to play direct. I recall him doing this on a few occasions under Bennett just before the SOO last year - he cut the Eels to ribbons in one game. Soward has the skills but he is not playing to his ability and I believe he needs a mentor to get him back on track. Joey Johns would be an ideal personal coach and mentor.

Soward has lost ground under the coaching of Price and needs to mend the relationship or one of the two needs to part ways - for me it is Price who should go but really, it is up to Doust to sort this out and he can no longer sit on his hands and be a spectator.

So if Soward truly wants to stay, stand him up, sort out a deal and get on with doing something about the situation. If he does not want to extend, then waste no more time on him, let him go and find a replacement.

So I say to Doust and Price; get onto it now. The money will be in the bank so there is no more excuses.
