saints will be playing September footy and you know it. next year top 4 with a quality halfback
Any injuries to Vaughan, Mc Innes or Dugan and that will go out the window.
Also this year we will be up against during the origin rounds because highly likely we will be down 3 players minimum.
Long way to go before your prediction can be locked in.

I think that the Dragons will win as ANZ probably gives the Tigers no real advantage. The Tigers seemed to lose their way when Brooks went off and Idris should not be match fit. The Storm played badly in the first half and thecTigers had a try disallowed. Apart from McCrone the Dragons are in reasonable form and their forwards are combining well as a unit. However the backline defence of the Dragons needs to hold up.

They get an advantage because we are out and out shit at ANZ.

Speaking of which, can anyone surmise why the Dragons haven't played at Leichhardt Oval since circa 2004? Personally I'd rather go to a suburban ground than that concrete 'graveyard' aka ANZ Stadium.

Leichhardt is one of the better smaller venues.

Is that roughly when we won by about 50 and gasnier scored a hat-trick?

Maybe they got sick of the results there!

There is probably a much more sensible reason.

You are exactly correct OT.
if Vaughan, Duges and Friz are selected for SOO, who would replace them?
So we would need a prop, 2nd row and fullback.
Lets say 1st in would be Mann to play either wing or f/b (nighty to f/b as we have done before)
Leilua for 2nd row and maybe Sele as the prop?
Havili as the 17
Problem here is none have played 1st grade so far (I'm including Mann in that statement as well).
McGregor is more likely to pick nighty as f/b, bring in KFFL as the winger and include Marketo and McCarthy as our forwards.

I also fear that would be the case as to who comes in.
If there are any injuries to the back rowers from other clubs JDB might be on the radar as well and that will make it even worse.
IMO if Vaughan is out at any stage of the year it will be a huge loss for us as he starts the ball rolling for our forwards to jump on board.

The one good thing this year is I do believe we have 2 byes through origin, so only one game we have to worry about. I could be wrong, read the draw couple weeks back but I'm sure that's right

Dunno.

Perhaps it's got something to do with the fact Saints draw larger away crowds than any other club?

From memory, the last time the Dragons played at Leichhardt Oval, Nathan Blacklock scored that wonderful 'kick n' chase' try that should've resulted in SOO representation.

I still get a 'boner' thinking about it.

One for the historical or trivia minded person: is there another current NRL venue that has not hosted the Dragons as long as Leichhardt? I'd be surprised if there was one.

Origin 1 is 31st May - Yes we have a bye the week before but play the Tigers 3 days (2 day rest) after (away)
Origin 2 is 21st June - We play the Eels before (away) and the Knights (home) on the Sunday
Origin 3 is 12th July - Yes we have the bye the week before but play the Raider (away) 2 days (1 day rest) later

Its going to be difficult for those guys to back up so soon after and God help us if we get an injury or 2.

Injuries will hapen, it's not a matter of if they hapen.
SOO will at this stage have Dugan. Vaughan and maybe JDB are likely.
Outside of our current 17 we have:
Milne, Leilua, Dufty, Field, Havilli, Kerr, Sele, and a few more.
Probably the only chance McAnchor will give them this year.

Ifwe get several players picked for origin then that will put pressurebon us in the middle of the season but the experience will help us at the back end.

Also we can give dufty or field a run at fullback. I read somewhere we are thinking of field as a fullback now which is interesting.

And we have some back rowers that would be good to blood and see how they go e.g. leilua.

This is why guys like mann needs game time now.
With 3 duges, Vaughan and Fizz.
JDB mybe there as well.
I think sele and luch will come in.
Host needs game time he will need to play longer minutes. But I think we can cover soo well.
We must keep winning to cover any losses.

Lol, yep, what an oversight and what an asset Frizz will be to NSW !! What a vast difference from last few years, almost an embarrassment of riches in our forwards when Packer will probably get a Kiwi jumper too, Thompson and Sims could easily play country.
What's Mary's plans to cover these reps and inevitable injuries? We lost dugan for SOO and a busted jaw last year. Mann has a good 10mins game time and could cover Prop??? Field has 5mins and cover the other Prop???

Definitely an important win, as tougher sides await us,
I am definitely not saying this game will be easy, IMO the Tigers have their backs against the wall, often when this happens sides rally and put in sprinted performances, I do think Melbourne poor first half was a lot to do with the intensity of the Tigers racing up and hitting hard forcing a lot of drop balls, they were really close to going in at half time 20 to 0, however a obstruction was called and a drop the next set lead to a fortunate try to Melbourne right on the stroke of half time.

If the Dragons can start well against what I believe will be another desperate Tigers outfit then hopefully we break gain early momentum and go on to win, but if they are complacent, as I think Melbourne were then we may find this a much tougher assignment

I'm very confident we will have a win; especially if the rain hits Sydney on Sunday.
