I think Mbye will get the 6 jumper with Bud 14 not that I agree but my gut tells me this’ll happen.
Seriously if Hook goes with Mbye or Bird at six if Bud is available he should be shown the door immediately.
Edited Post:

New season, new era, new style pretty simple really.

If Hook can't embrace that, then one would have to hope that he's operating under instructions.

One would like to hope that finally we are at a point where the correct decisions for our long term viability are going to be made.

Imo more that it was Buds return from injury, take him away from the opening burst. Just guessing of course, but that’s what I think likely

Mate first game back from hammy issues so understandable. Three weeks later no excuse to not start Bud against Titans

That seems logical and I thought that too but I also know what this coach is capable of when it comes to stubborn and conservative selections. I think we've all seen it.

Anyway, guess we only have to wait a couple more weeks to be let down.

I really think Griffin knows he is just biding time til the next sucker takes his seat. There's not much evidence of coaching so far on the field nor man management. More going through the motions and a few quotes to the media to try and beguile us that this is a first grade footy team.

Agree with you gents with Sullivan at 6 - and leave him there to work with Hunt .

Hunts no spring chicken and he needs a partner with real speed to get our backline on the attack . They must be ‘ true partners in crime ‘ to succeed and the only way of doing so , is for Ben to pass on his wealth of experience to Bud as a permanent halves combination .

If I was Griffin I would NAME Mbye at 6 and Bud on bench (or even) in the 21... but l would start Bud and hoped GC trained for Mbye.
I agree the Bud/Hunt pairing looks our best... but Bud needs to get his hammy's right to play full games.

I thought they looked better in the second half of the shield when Hunt moved to second receiver & Bud first. This imo would be the best option as I think Hunts running game is best suited there.
Your analysis is spot on.

Hunt at 7 with the slow big outstretched arms dummy play makes us too flat footed we need a 7 that constantly questions the line and then has options to give it to a 2nd receiver for the sucker play.

Hunt at 7 when he gets rushed does give a lot of hospital passes as well.

Nice thought and would work at park or lower levels.
Teams would train for both scenarios and be ready whoever steps out that is how well drilled they are.
NRL coaches love their smoke screens. Dont always believe the Tuesday team sheet.

Yes, I've reached my bottom but I stand by what I post.

I'm going to say it again. I've said it in years leading up to this one but now, now more than ever, the fans must:
- boycott the games
- forgo the memberships
- rally the management - write, protest, eschew what feeds the finances, whatever...

Just consider it. Many here have been defending the club, backing the team to overcome adversity (that's what true support is about, I get it) and giving Hook and his predecessor many, many outs and making freaking weak excuses on their behalf. Now, these fans have woken up to reality that there was never a plan post Bennett, save slapping on an easy target coach and calling it the next chapter. I know it isn't easy to win a comp, play in every finals series but this - what we are witnessing - is something very different. It hurts, and on days like today with every star signing to our competitors it hurts even more...just knowing our near future looks just as bleak until some turn of events finally befalls us.

Pessimistic? Sure. I've battled with unnamed posters here for years about this lack of direction. We are even worse off now than I had predicted. Those battles have subsided as reality has set in for even the staunchest apologists.

These club decision makers (CEO, board, recruitment, coach...) have been resting on their laurels ever since 2011. I can't help feel we are in part responsible. Don't give them another red cent and I know the message will get where it needs to be quicker than you think. Ticket sales and bums on seats will send a clear message that the fans are done.

It's like horrible politics, trying to keep our votes in order to achieve nothing but keep their self interests seen to. Today, more players defending Hook, defending culture - well freaking play like a cohesive unit for just once then! Play to a plan, hold the ball, make a tackle! Stay out of the headlines for your drunken shenanigans and criminal acts while you are at it! The time for talk passed years ago in my opinion. I won't read the junk from the club.

I've lost my passion for this club and I know you have too. Each game day is as unprofessional and frustrating as the last. I saw fans boycott Mayweather's boxing bout on the weekend as it was clearly just revenue raiser and a farce. The place was empty. Not sure us running out against the competition is much better than such a farce only I grant there are some players trying their hearts out.

I'm sorry but at this point, in my view, anyone giving money to support this poorly run venture is feeding the fire. The fire is metaphoric but it has already burned away the soul and pride of St George. I consider this zombie like attendance sacrilege and a sign of naivity rather than true support. What other choice is there, ride it out?? Where's that got us?

Rant over.

Oh Redv I feel your pain and hear it in your words. I stopped my auto renewal of membership last October as I could see the direction we were heading in and was not happy.
It is almost criminal what "they" have done to this once so great and dominant Club and I blame it solely on the merging of the two clubs. St. George lost their identity.
The fact that no one wants to come and play for us, except other clubs discards, is terrible.
My rant is over.

Titans will embarrass us.

Losing the first game of the year at home to the Titans will disengage whatever fans we have left and do wonders for the teams confidence (favouritism for the spoon).

Its going to be a loooooong year.

Granted I’m a glass half full kinda fella (most of the time) but I’m pretty shocked at some of the fatalistic negativity, Titans by 30 at Kogarah ? Wow. Drags never trial well , can’t remember a year we have aside from the CS last year. We do on the other hand have the “April premiers” tag and generally start strong. I think we’ll do the Titans at home
