Dragons Vs Dogs Rnd 21 discussion.

The dogs gave us hope in this game. They were ordinary as well. Any of the top four teams would have put us to the sword early on.
Kicks in play out on the full, kick offs out on the full, kick offs going dead, stupid penalties late in the count, an atrocious error rate.
We once prided ourselves on our discipline and our ability to minimise errors and it brought us a premiership. Nowadays mediocrity is entertained and accepted by our coach.
If the powers that be wish to continue with Price, it is about time he showed some balls and let the players know that stupid errors that can be prevented will not be tolerated. He, as the coach is responsible for the mindset of the team. Our guys no longer play for each other. He should set an example by dropping some blokes back to the Cutters. He has nothing to lose now. We may not have the best roster but at least this will ensure we get the best out of each player who wants to play first grade in the Red V. Maybe a call to a former great to remind them of what it means to wear this jersey is in order as well.....

I'm sure the mediocrity is not accepted by the coach. Quit with the BS.

It was 20-8 for farks sake.

...was at the game, another sorry excuse for a well drilled team out there, and to basically throw away the game when the Dogs were stuffing up, all we had to do was hold the ball, get repeat set, or nice kick in simple for most teams, but we managed to turn that momentum into being on back foot.

Our forwards are tiny in comparison to Dogs....Pritchard, Kasiano, Trex, all giants.

Every time they got near our line after one of our many mistakes it was inevitable they would score. They just walked over our piss weak players...Too big too strong...

Then why do we hear his same dribble every week in press conferences? The effort was there blah blah blah....
He needs to balls up and call a spade a spade......

The team is coming third last...his job is on the line...yeah he's accepting mediocrity :crazy::crazy:

The conferences are all BS...No matter how sh*t his team is going he always has to defend him....

How would the team respond if he said at the conference that we were useless?

Sign up Rev and Son as Coach !!!! : )

I know you want five years, but we're offering 3.

...Maybe we'll keep your son on longer.

...take it or leave it!

I was going to say don't take our players when you move on but I actually do want you too, with the exception of our back three..

I don't agree with you champ. The team has degenerated under Price. I am positive Bellamy, Hasler, Bennett would all have been critical in pressers of their teams if their performances were akin to ours this year.
He was refused to make changes that needed to be made until it was too late.

In in response to "How would the team respond if he said at the conference that we were useless?"

I believe the team would play with more heart than a team that is being told "the effort was there. Our execution was off....."

What Price does during training is what matters more than what he says at press conferences. Bennett used to say f**k all...it's his actions that do the talking.

Not sure what or how Price runs the team but it appears he is out of his depth coaching first grade.

That's what I care about. Press conferences mean jack sh*t...just pre rehearsed BS

You are right - the conferences are just words, that mean nothing unless you back them up with action. That Action should have been to drop underperforming players (for example) much earlier in the piece - and by that I mean already last year. Look at Souths reaction to a bad game. Consequences are - players dropped. That's how you maintain discipline.

But Steve Price was too busy being every thing to evey body and giving them pats on the back for effort despite losing ....week in week out ...a habit I dare say he got into already early last year.

Do you think he sits down with Trent Merin and has the hard conversation with him about his offloads for example? It's a good thing that started to go bad already weeks ago. In the meantime, does he give Trent Merrin instruction? ...tuition?

Do you think he had the (in this case not so hard) conversation with Nathan Fein early in the season saying ..."look Nathan, this half back experiment is not working out... we Need to Change it" ...?

...I doubt it.

Everything about Steve Price's Coaching says to me the following:-

- he is soft
- he is no motivator,
- he avoids taking risks
- he is too slow to act when change is clearly necessary. The reason for this one I suspect is stubborness or mis-placed loyalty, but maybe because of a lack of creativity.

It's all too late now, and the points raised in the most recent game(s) that provide reasons or excuses for Steve Price may hold true.

However, the damage was done a long time ago. Like i said, you only get one chance to make a first impression; harsh and sometimes unjust, especially in first grade sport, but true.

Steve Price has lost his audience, and with it respect.

Bennett says plenty. He doesn't waffle on with garbage. He said earlier this year that he didn't know what Newcastle team would get off the bus when they were playing erratically.
Your right though, what happens at training and on the weekend matters far more than words at a press conference. The alarming thing is his blasé attitude at pressers seems to reflect the way this team is coached.
I agree he seems out of his depth.
I for one would like to hear an insight from the coach into what his thoughts are in going forward. After all these press conferences are the only real time we get to hear from him.

There were 30 minutes left FFS.

Mate, it's not just a pure fact our forwards were outplayed. We were stupid and did everything possible to blow a lead, i.e giving the ball away in silly fashion in our own half, shit goal line defence. The momentum was totally in our favour.

Yes it was and we f**ked it.

Wait...why are we arguing again?
