Soon fans will call bullshit whenever they hear "The club is aware of the matter and is cooperating with the NRL integrity unit".

Soon?

I'm certain every club's last choice option is letting any controversial stuff get to a point where they've gotta refer it to the IU.

Lets face it the NRL and channel 9 has left itself very open to bad publicity from Sam Burgees.

He was made a celebrity and bigger than any other player in the game. He was given massive leeway onfield and off.

Refs had to listen to him, if he asked for a decision to be reviewed or changed more often than not it was. His mistakes on field were more often than not nullified by a questionable penalty.

He was given an open forum on the media to call out other players being grubs and to demand that the judiciary take action.

Then the situation where he grabbed chambers (also a grub) by the balls and channel 9 refused to show any replays of the incident, nothing to see here until a flood of social media showing the incident forced the MRCs hand.

Also the dodgy medical retirement, he had signed a contract while carrying the shoulder injury yet was still allowed to be medically retired a big gain for both him and Souths. Given the current allegations raises questions as to wether the medical retirement had anything to do with something happening off field.

NRL had every chance to wipe their hands of his constant dirty play and later on his off field discretions, instead they kept him on that pedestal and tried to gloss over everything. Now come finals time with arguably one of the most exciting first rounds ever the talk is not about the football but about off field drama.

Not just bigger than any other player in the game, but he also pissed off to Yawnion at the first opportunity to play in their overhyped World Cup. That suggests he thinks he’s bigger than rugby league itself. His ego was so massive he had a falling out with his coach at Bath. The bloke is walking arrogance.

South Sydney will co-operate with the investigation and in a statement said they are treating the allegations with the utmost seriousness.

“There is no place in our society for violence, harassment or abuse against women,” the statement read.

No, accused by his ex and her father has an AVO on him.

From another incident. Nothing from the incident mentioned in the article. Which to me is strange as to why the Father in Law didn't report it. He has nothing to gain from keeping quiet.

So I will wait to see what comes from the investigation before I comment on it
