DT Poll and Blog: Should Nathan Hindmarsh captain the Blues?

Messages

IMO they should pick the best 17 players for NSW then pick one of the starting 13 as captain, a player who has played more than 6 origins would be a good pick (not paul gallen).
There is no guarantee Hindy will even get picked based on last season.

Josh Morris into the centres to partner his brother and swap Jennings and Tahu around. Start with O'Donnell or Watmough and drop Stewart for another forward. All three are eighty minute players and you don't need all three. Shillington is a filthy Qlder by the way.

As for Soward? Why? So we can watch Inglis throw him off?

1. Hayne
2. Jennings
3. Tahu
4. Morris, J
5. Morris, B
6. Carney
7. Pearce
8. Weyman
9. Ennis
10. Poore
11. Hindmarsh
12. Creagh
13. O'Donnell

14. Farah
15. Watmough
16. Stewart
17. Waterhouse
Tahu has showed no reason to be selected yet, he missed 3 tackles on sunday that all resulted in tries, Inglis would have him for breakfast.
Jennings has to be in the centres.

 Oh yeah, I keep forgetting that. I'd throw in an extra back rower in that case like you've done.

I'd keep T on the wing because I believe Jennings is a very good centre. The Morris boys I'd be happy to see in there. I'm a big Cooper fan though.

Soward deserves a crack IMO, however if Carney keeps up the form, he'll give it a good nudge. Remains to be seen whether he can though.

I'd certainly pick Soward in halves.

He is the form NSW Half of the last 18 months.

As for picking Todd Carney in the halves?

At this stage, pass.

Early on this would be my team:

1. Hayne
2. Tahu
3. Jennings
4. Cooper
5. B Morris
6. Soward
7. Pearce
13. Stewart
12. Creagh
11. Hindmarsh (c)
10. Weyman
9. Ennis
8. Poore

14. Farah
15. Watmough
16. O'Donnell
17. Shillington

18. J Morris
19. K Gidley

Shillington is a QLDer.

I'd go for a team as follows on current form

1. Hayne
2. Tahu
3. J Morris
4. Jennings
5. B Morris
6. Carney
7. Pearce
8. Weyman
9. Farah
10. Galloway
11. Hindmarsh (c)
12. Watmough
13. O'Donnell

14. Lewis
15. Waterhouse
16. Douglas
17. Bailey

You'd expect Creagh and Gallen to get spots though given the way selectors think. Lawrence also a shot for the centres. We should finally have a backline to match QLD this series though.

He is the form NSW Half of the last 18 months.

Form half of 2009. Outside of his kicking game he hasn't hit any sort of form in 2010.

As for big games.

I'd want to see a lot more from carney than two good games against sides that put him under no pressure before he is considered for a spot on the halves for nsw. I'd even pick mullen ahead of him.

Mullen? Now we are dragging the bottom of the barrel.

He does need more than two good games most definitely and according to Laurie Daley he needs to play 5/8 as well. That said if we go in with Soward he'll be replaced in Game 2 by Barrett.....

If Soward is used at 5'8th than guarenteed our strike weapons like Jennings will not see any ball at all which was our problem last year.

well, thats what I think naming Todd Carney in the halves after two good games at fullback against pissweak defences is doing ;-)

we've played 2 games - been lucky to come back and win one of them and we are picking 3 or 4 eels in the NSW team :-s .... tbh, I think Hayne is the only eel likely at this stage .... poore hasn't done anything this year, altho he's an incumbant so maybe that'll help him .... in all honesty, hindy hasn't started the season as well as he has in the past, i think due to injury .... and tahu probably hasn't done enough yet either

plenty of water to pass under the bridge before we get a bunch of players in the NSW team

If we can give Steve Turner a wing spot, surely we can give Soward a shot at 5/8

That is the best justification I've seen yet.......

Just because it happened doesn't mean we should go with it.

As for Carney/Soward..... I'd be more than happy for them to continue with Barrett/Kimmorley instead of chopping and changing.

Well I don't understand if defending Inglis is the real issue, why you would then leave Matt Cooper out of your side and put Tahu in the centres?

Barrett and Kimmorley would be a backward step IMO.

Soward narrowly missed the Dally M medal, and has a good kicking game. I think he'd be fine at Origin level. As much as people dislike him at least he gets fired up.
