I'm just assuming and was told never assume ;), was he intimidated by Warriors size i dont know, but it wasnt the Dufty weve seen lately
I just think he was was well contained. In fact the Warriors played a spoiling up & in defensive game which definitely put the brakes on our attack. Dufty had his usual number of carries but not for the same meters so he was certainly up for the game. Problem was so were the Warriors.
I'm pretty sure he will have learnt a hell of a lot more from that game than the one vs. the Sharks.

I'm hoping the team learnt that if the opposition is going to able to stand offside all night, stand a little deeper.

I'm hoping they learn that if the bomb isn't working then try a grubber, kick for touch, find the ingoal even a chip & chase. The lack of kick variety vs. the Warriors was poor and the fact we didn't try something different is a concern.

That would be a Plan B.
I feel like we have gone down this road before?

Why do you think Dufty is afraid to put his body on the line in defence? Has he had previous injuries/concussions that could be in the back of his mind that may be stopping him or does he just lack some effort in that part of his game?

Unsure whether to laugh or cry at some of the commentary of our forum members on this topic.

FFS, Dufty wasn't the problem last week.

Warriors defence got off their line at breakneck speed particularly out wide.

Our halves had very little time to react. Dufty was able to shake hands with Warrior defenders as he was receiving the ball.

Let us give credit to an excellent (if continually offside) defence.

They out enthused us. Suggesting that a full back "failed to put his body on the line" from 3 f**king metres out is simply dribble. The kid has plenty to learn positionally in defence. If Graham doesn't go early Dufty has some help and Luke doesn't score.

If you feel the need to criticise anyone let us start at the top.

A good coach reacts after 5-10 minutes. Like his players I am still waiting for the light bulb to turn on in his fat bald head.

1) Our attack could have stood deeper.

2) The halves could have grubbered diagonally behind the on rushing Warriors defensive line.

3) Our forwards could have run harder.

4) We could have kicked earlier in the tackle count

No one is saying Dufty was the only problem last week but he was one problem. Its not black and white with Dufty, just because some people are concerned with elements of his game doesn't mean they are death riding him.

To raise concerns is fair enough, especially when you consider what the end of season games and finals are going to be like. On the weekend fullbacks such as RTS, Dylan Edwards and even Dugan played better games (to name some). Recognising this doesn't mean you want him to fail but ignoring it doesn't mean the areas he needs to improve dont exist. He is not an elite fullback yet and is inexperienced with deficiencies in his game and games like this highlight it. If we are to be a threat later in the year he will need to have improved his game in attack and defence so that he is not just relying on speed.

He has a lot to offer and he now has to learn how to be a total player.

Surely Hornby will be working on these areas with him.

Yep, everything you say, plus kick 4 penalty goals to get them out of our faces and back more than 5 mts.

You gotta ask whether our on field leaders even think of basic strategies as well.

Geeze, it's their job too.

I'll reserve judgement on Ponga, history is full of players that have a stellar debut season but are quickly worked out by the opposition and just as quickly forgotten.

I won't list them here, because quite obviously they've been forgotten.
I think Ponga is a special player BGB & expect him to be around for a long time injury permitting. I can understand where you are coming from with one season wonders but I’ve no doubt that he’ll make the grade.

I'd be surprised if Ponga was anything but a star.

However Dufty could fit that description if he doesn't continue to develop.

Ponga looks to be a smart player doesn’t he.

I think Dufty will work on facets of his game. He has clearly done very well in important areas like scoring tries!

I’m hoping by mid season the Dragons promote another young player, Lomax, Robson or Field. It would be great to get another young gun (or two) in the side.

To be quite honest I haven’t seen much of Ponga play, but you all seem to think he will be a real star sooner rather than later.

So when do you think the Roosters will sign him?
