Pretty sure that the kidney problem was the result of a knee courtesy of a Parramatta player in the 1st Grand Final of 1977 . Our man Rod Reddy went on a one man hunting expedition after that chasing the culprit from the S.C.G to the wilds of Cumberland oval .

Gareth if I'm correct it was ray higgs.
But rocket also like the taste of ray price in the reply grand final in 77

Yes I thought so Ray Price ? . I actually went to the same High School as he , can also remember him shoving a hot chilly into my mouth one day on the school bus . I whacked him that hard that he bounced off the steel rail , of course then his ' body guards ' mates got stuck into me - but it was worth it . He never looked at me again after that little run in , but for what it's worth he was a damn good footy player , but also the dirty type , Mr. Perpetual Motion was the name the media of the day gave him .

Good on you gareth.
Price was a great footballer.
But the thing that sticks in my mind was the way he would stand like praying for a rebound off the posts.

I just think he was was well contained. In fact the Warriors played a spoiling up & in defensive game which definitely put the brakes on our attack. Dufty had his usual number of carries but not for the same meters so he was certainly up for the game. Problem was so were the Warriors.
I'm pretty sure he will have learnt a hell of a lot more from that game than the one vs. the Sharks.

Other teams will now use the rush defence against us, so chipping behind that defence will counteract that. And we have the best short kickers in the business in Hunt & Widdop?

Line speed is the norm for good teams - not a Warriors' aberration.
Field, Mann, Lomax & Dufty have the speed to chase the long or short kicks. If there is a plan B we need the counteracting speed above in some form or another.
Deft passing ability can also negate in your face defence & Lomax has that in spades.
I worry that Aitken can't pass the ball well & Lafai & Nighty are just too slow off the mark IMO.
So exhilarating to see the Hill rise again - to Dufty's speed against the Sharks!

Pretty obvious that if Dufty is out on the left and sees nothing that he will cut back and try and exploit a hole on the right ... All we need now is for our team to recognise this - I mean everyone else in the world has ...

That is the one time we really need Tyson cutting back against the grain on ... but he needs to see it unfolding and get back behind Dufty so he can make the run.

The only other thing I would like to see is the stats on backup runs. Gordon is fantastic at this area of tge game - pushing up supporting ... Curious to see Dufty's numbers in that area.

The bus ? If you could had seen him in those days - a typical rock&trollers hair style brushed back with oil in it . Had made a name for himself even then by playing rugby union for Dundas Valley and eventually the rah rah boys of Parramatta Rugby Union.

Always surrounded by by a gang of tough mates who would be hanging off his every word . But the chilly was burning hot and I think it was a natural reaction to hit out at the bloke , unfortunately for me my mates were not their with me at the time to help . However it was good to get one on him as I realised later the reason why Reddy enjoyed it so much when he done the same .

Rocket beating the shit out of Price for 40 minutes is one of the greatest of all St George highlights.

Reg Regan saids - " Certainly was , the poor bliter had another gentlemen by the name of Neil Pringle from Balmain who also seemed to take great delight at tagging young Raymond in those days. "

I wold like our halves to kick DEEP into the corners and then chase their kick in company with the edge forward and outside backs on that side of the field. The opposing forwards would just hate having to turn around and ruck the ball out from close to their line, set after set.

If the oposition are doing too good a job retrieving the long kick into the corner, change to a short kick towards the corner hoping to beat them to the ball or watching them knock the ball on under pressure.

Kicking down the middle directly to the fullback on the full is madness. When in attack we can win an advantage if both centres are on the same side of the field now and then.

This kind of serious analysis has no place in this thread.
