Nah we don't need to retain rep players. They can be replaced by anyone, how do we know that any player we replace them with won't be better straight away? Plus we signed Hunt so he will carry the whole side. According to you Dugan is shit, every other good judge who rates him is wrong.

How on earth have you come to that conclusion? Over the course of several posts you've barely structured a coherent argument. You started by saying they could be replaced, then told me I was saying they were worth the money they are commanding (which I never stated), then somehow veered off to Woods signing with the Bulldogs to make a point that's not entirely clear. At no point have you made any valid points with regards to "strengthening a team" other than to point out that we've replaced McCrone with Hunt. We've strengthened one position, whilst weakening our front row rotation and probably fullback position.

Packer's gone so match the Sharks offer to Dugan. Play him at fullback next season or until Dufty or Field go past him then shift him to centre. Dugan' a damn good footballer and wears his heart on his sleeve for us.

As for your proof of me saying Duges is shit, um, why didnt you quote all where I said that he is a good player but will never be a great fullback between now and retirement. Because that ridicules your statement, huh.

In summary, you said we will struggle unless Dugan and Packer are replaced like for like, ie. international players. I simply said that is not true, and many others here seem to think Mann or Duffy or Field could be good enough to replace Duges at fullback. So seems I am not alone in my thinking.

As for mentioning Woods, simply to disprove your statement that we need to replace them with international standard players. Not all international players are the bees knees. We did the right thing letting Packer go, and not attempt to match the supposed $3.2 mil offered by Tigers. And I hope we don't increase our offer to match what Duges wants. It is all about balance over the whole team.

If the Sharks pay a million dollars for Dugan it will be their impediment. Great, great player but isn't the full package, and more importantly, misses too many games. Could just be a manager's ploy. I hope Dragons don't fall for it.
