Hes gone
Move on
He is a bit injury prone
Interesting to see if we get a replacement for him,we have lost b moz ,he is starved of the ball with the grubs.
Merrin we miss a bit ,but the panthers arent going the best so far
Who knows with dugan how he will go
Do we miss b moz and merrin ? Will we miss dugan?
In 2 years time I will start a "Do we miss Dugan" thread, with a poll. I bet that 80% will be saying no. I believe that we can spend the Dugan money better elsewhere and I believe that we can have a better attack with someone else at fullback or centre. How many wingers would like to play outside of Dugan?

Disappointed that we now know that he will be a Shark next year and big Russ a Tiger , but that is in 2018 . For now they are still both Dragons and I am sure that they shall continue to play best footy for us . I am annoyed that they shall no longer be here in the Big Red V next year, as I feel that the negotiations could had been handled much better , than they were . Come the time for them to leave our club , I shall wish them both the best , but for now they are both still in a side , that could go a long way into the finals .

Watching the way that our boys played last night and also the post match celebrations , tells me that any effect upon our players has been almost negligible . Us on the other hand , being dye-in-the -wool supporters , have been bleeding badly . Fortunately it is not we gentlemen who are representing our club on the field .

Let's suck our stomachs in gents , it may have been a bad couple of weeks , however , as sure as my rooster will start his screeching tomorrow morning , so will the Saints go marching on !

Yes Mc Innes is up for a pay day soon and must be kept.
In the meantime we carry
Masoe, Glymin, KFFL, Marketo, Matthews, Mc Carthy and a few more so dispense with all of them and give all those spots to out most promising.
Millward can't balance the books because he and others can't arrange any TPA's.
All the excuses why we have to keep letting people go yet no decent TPA's are ever negotiated and who is responsible for that?
Mc Inness, Vaughan, Widdop, DE Belin are all good styles of blokes how is it we cant get people to kick the tin for them so as to ease cap pressure.
People get caught up in who we sign and the result is the cap $$$ diminishes and some say well the people are doing a great job recruiting but we have to shed quality players top do so which IMO opinion is laughable.
Therefore I say that they are not doing a good job as they are only doing part of the job well.
Since when has losing 2 internationals for not much more than our offers been considered acceptable?
If we let them go due to them not fitting our ongoing strategy then that is a different scenario but the fact is we wanted to keep both and not having done so the excuses get trotted out.
Recruitment has many couples parts to it and in the modern game TPA's are critical and we are appalling in that respect.

It's not up to Millward to organise TPA's for players, thats the players manager to do so...

So your telling me that at the Roosters, Broncos or Bunnies etc players sign on for less money and their manager says no worries leave it to me I will get it topped up and the club doesn't have do anything
I cannot in my wildest dreams believe that's how it really works

This aint Millwards fault its the NRL's on many levels, not policing it for one and having the Politis's, Dib's etc with too much influence and letting them get their own way, just like now with the NRL announcing a lower then expected salary cap, Politis/Dib want to axe Grant because they have overspent already, where as the Dragons have been cautious....

No doubt the NRL have much to answer for but surely it is incumbent upon our club to get its own sponsors and have knowledge of who is a likely TPA paying candidate.
That is what marketing people are employed to do as well as senior people involved in recruiting.
We can blame outsiders as much as we like but internally who is pulling the strings re making sure we can garner enough money to keep those players who we want on the books?
IMO Millward never wanted Dugan beyond this year and he created the friction and circumstances to ensure he leaves.
If that is the case I would much rather prefer the club come out and say "thanks Josh we have enjoyed you being around but we have now decided to move in another direction and we wish you well"

Dragons pulled offer on Wed as reported on the ABC...Dugan no choice but to accept less money pa but extra year w Sharks..Dugan also waived his right for cooling off...that tells u one thing - Dragons moved on and dont be surprised they announce his replacement over next 7 days ...my tip Alex Johnston or Walker

If they announce either one of them as the replacement the place is completely f**ked and it will just continue the litany of errors and gross mismanagement of the club.
Dugan is gone now invest in what we have rather than geniusing it even further.
Those players are malcontents at their own clubs and people would gladly have them here and at the same time sling shit at Dugan.
Hard to fathom how some people think.

Exactly and as I posted earlier sends the wrong message to not only the likes of Lafai and Mann, but the youngsters we have.
All this jabbering about Alex Johnston, Cody Walker, Dane Gagai and Nathan Ross is just reactionary, we don't need them, they would cost double (if not triple) than what we have waiting.

At a time when we have lost both Dugan and Packer, the last thing we need is more uncertainty created by knee jerk outside signings. We have enough talent to get over this hurdle. We don't need hacks who are just interested in $$$$.

Managers take the easy road and look to clubs who already have TPA support from another entity. It's fudging the rules and the NRL are taking a blind eye to the problem. It's time for reform and the NRL to be more closely involved in TPA's. I believe as with drug teting, players should be audited each year in an effort to scare intent to receive unauthorised payments.

Mate, the problem is that there's no true forward planning at the Dragons. Up to a few days ago, the club was still trying to sign him. Now they reactively need to accommodate his loss.

Right on the money. Millward should have had a plan B which included two good replacements ready to go.

I would imagine that his dream of Field at fullback and an internal replacement for Packer has been strongly resisted by the coaching staff and now the panic to find replacements.

Thanks for the updates Mickey. This makes a lot of sense...in terms of our offer being pulled on Wed. Millward needed to move on and the club cannot be held to ransom by any players/managers. In the end, no one wanted Duges for 1 mill a season so Millwards evaluation was correct. He basically joined the Sharks for 1 extra season which didn't suit us as we have good youngsters coming through. Not having a shot at Duges either, he has to look after himself and wish him all the best in the future.

I'm sorry but you are being naive if you think there is no plan B. Millward would have many irons in the fire. Hardly likely that Dugan would announce yesterday and Millward would announce today any new signing.

It doesn't matter when Dugan signed, Millward pulled the offer of the table last Wednesday.
