I know nothing about D&D, this should be good fun

Vote No Vote

Group go on adventure, fight monsters. No idea whether the group will be the baddies, because usually it is four of them, or what is happening.

But it is pretty simple stuff.

Says here that you know what you are doing.

Hmm?

huh? How does that work? I assume you're going to say you're town. So you're saying you'll wrongly turn up as not town?

Correctamundo.

If it is worded as "incorrectly" it would be more than that. We will have different types of investigators. Alignment, character, trackers etc I assume.

Well I don't know how it'll work with specific investigations. If I remember correctly, Mis isn't a huge fan of 'direct' investigations, preferring vaguer information such as 'is a threat' or 'doesn't have town's best interests' or tidbits of information about the character's appearance/personality.

this really doesnt make sense. a town would have a power where the investigate would come up mafia? that wouldn't exist would it? maybe apey cant be lynched and the last person to vote for him dies and he's trying to coax us into lynching him for the giggs.

Yes it was my cunning plan as a baddie to inform everyone on Day 1 that I will in fact turn up as a baddie if you investigate me. As a baddie I hope that everyone will investigate me Night 1, find out from their investigation that I'm a baddie, and then lynch me on Day 2. No really, this type of passive has existed in several games (a few Mis games actually iirc) here on LU. Rather than let it get me down (aka lynched), I thought I'd get a headstart on it. I clarified with Mis that the roleclaim only pertained to characters/character types, so that's all good.

I was once a townie who couldn't die at night, but when investigated or someone tried to kill me at night I would show up mafia. Try as I might to tell them this, I still got lynched.

Hence my idea to reveal this before I (inevitably) get investigated.

I wont investigate you Apey. You can be sure of that. No need even if I could.

I'm on the fence about Apey.

On the one hand he would usually be among the first to be investigated. So knowing there is a good chance he'll be looked at I can see why he came forward if he is town.

But it's also possibly a genius strategy for a scum player. Imagine an actual mafia telling everybody he is good but he turns up bad so don't go after him. If people believed it he'd be a lock to last to the end.

But if he is a town I would hate to lose him.

Wow. Much confused. Such dilemma.

I may not be one of the first, but I would bet everything I own that I'd be investigated at some point in the game. May as well get it out there now before it's too late. Imagine if I had been investigated Night 1 and then tried to explain the situation? Nobody would buy it, much like nobody bought it when it was true for Parra Pride. I'd be lynched Day 2.

It potentially paints a rather large target on my head and makes me susceptible to a variety of actions. Not the sort of attention I'd be keen on earning if I were a bad guy.

I wasn't actually investigated that game, it was after I survived a night attack by the mafia that I decided to out the fact it was me (though anyone with half a brain would've guess that considering it was an anime character).

Oh yeah, that's right. Well, pretty much the same logic anyway.

I'm pretty sure mine is only for investigations, I can die at night and would turn up town if protected... unless Mis has one of his patented 'hidden' passives/abilities, of course.
