Dureau article in Sun Herald

An article in the Newcastle section of the Sun Herald basically says he took one week off for a holiday in Hawaii and has been training hard to increase his size and strength since.
He says he is injury free and needs to make the most of his chances while Rogers is injured to establish himself as Mullen's partner in the halves.

Nice... So how long do we have to wait for that article about us signing a star halfback then?

And then?

Dureau deserves another chance. If he fails then we move on. That Tomkins kid from Wigan is a very impressive player for 20 years of age. Doubt we would get him though. No Russell Crowe to lure him out of a contract with another club.

I don't really know if it's possible to increase your speed and agility much within a couple months but he needs to work on that before his strength and size IMO. Unless he plans on running like Andrew Johns and just busting through the line.. That doesn't sound to bad in theory :p

with the right training program people can make massive gains in terms of power within 40 days and with power, comes better acceleration. so if i was dureau i would go on a mass gaining diet and pump the heavy weights up until there is 40 days of the pre-season left and then i would add power training to my regime 4 times a week. does anyone know how heavy scott is?
...i should pt the knights. haha

he needs to stop thinking about making the most of his chances and start thinking about what the side needs him to do to win games. As always, its not about your career Dureau, its about the side...the sooner you realise focusing on what the side needs = your career the better off we will all be.

I very much agree, though i dont believe he is consciously being selfish. I think scotty has it in him to be a simple half who distributes, kicks and organises and leaves the flair and big plays to mullen. If he does this it will be better for the team and also the flaws in his game won't be on display. the second he starts trying things he either overthinks the situation and has a brain snap or his execution lets him down.

I hope he can get it right cos i still dont rate rogers as a 5/8, even when he is 'on'. he still doesnt get any quality ball to his centres and wingers without taking on the defence first. A terrible distributor at the best of times.

I can't believe you see Scotty as selfish.
The only game plan he has had is 'give the ball to Mullo and let him be the star' and he has followed that to the letter. Smith would have dropped him in a second if he didn't.
I'd like to see him be selfish and try to be a match winner, because he can win games.

Johns had heaps more speed than dureau.

Not in his last 2 years, he was slow as hell, but still managed to bust the line many times.

Even then i think he was significantly quicker, also had a lot more strength/size, better footwork, and an amazing sence of timing.

F*** your boring
Yet you still reply. Says more about you than me champ.

I'm just highlighting that we have made a crucial error in not recruiting a new halfback for 2010. We seem to be happy recruiting forwards - of which we have a plethora of - when what we don't have anywhere near enough of is halfbacks that can compliment Mullen, of which we have none.

Of course the Scotty Fan Club's opinion differs to mine, and that's fine. We participate in a forum which is all about expressing and debating opinions - of which Sneaky a response such as "F*** your boring" is not really debating (l'll leave your apparent inability to spell alone).

So...besides having a first grader waiving back to you in the car park on a consistent basis...what does Scotty actually add to the first grade squad?

(Hope that was a little more entertaining for you Sneaky)

I'd be very surprised if management haven't been on the lookout for a quality halfback...the trouble is there aren't many out there.

People might talk about Todd Carney and Tim Smith, but the reasons are obvious why we steered clear of them, even if you or I don't necessarily agree with them. That's the way management seems to have gone.

Anyone suggesting signing an English halfback is out of their mind...
