If Dykes is a done deal, this could sound the end of Bird, particually with Kent playing well in the halfs.

Why? Bird is a lock. He'll play there when both next year and when he returns from his bullsh*t suspension.

Dykes will be a major asset. I hated him in 2000 and loved him in 2001. He can turn his form around very quickly given the right circumstances.

Kent still hasn't been signed although I hope he is because he can cover any pos'n in the backline and will be very valuable with regards to depth. I see him playing a role similar to the one Amos Roberts has for Penrith this year.

I hope Mellars comes on well as I see plenty of potential there, let's hope we see it start to blossom this year so he get's a good pre season for next.

Covell is an interesting one. Although we know he kicks goals, there is a question over his ability as a footballer. I reckon he may end up as a utilty. With Hilder kicking so well, it might not matter.

All in all I am very happy with the latest anouncements.

Now . . . . back to THIS year.

I know this might sound unusual, but I think Dykes will be a tremendous asset next year.

The final opportunity for him to play for the club he loves will see him rise to his finest football.

The Parra supporters might call him a dud, but I am to be convinced that his heart was in it. Now that he has seen the "other" side and is now home I feel he will relish the challenge and produce some outstanding football.

Everything is coming together nicely for next year - finally we have a 5/8. Hopefully Dykes will help to get more out of Vagana, if so look out. :)

Now if we could sign one more good three-quarter I'd be a very happy man indeed.

Has Frawley resigned with the Broncos yet - he'd go well at Shark Park.

Yep if channel ten have got this right it's great news to be getting Dyksee back and as long as he can stay injury free i think his combination with Noddy will be great but even more salivating is what Dyksee will do for Nige as he might get some quality ball from a quality 5/8 and even Lomu running 2 out might be able to get things rolling as long as that idiot Bailey doesn't get in the way.

As long as the little prick doesn't fall out of his car and break his collarbone, I'll be happy.

BTW, what are we giving him? 2 cans of coke and a bucket of hot chips after the game or something?

More news on this, this time from the The Daily Telegraph,

Sharks circle Dykes
By James Hooper
July 23, 2004

UNSETTLED Parramatta five-eighth Adam Dykes may be lured home to the Sharks next season after Cronulla tabled him an offer to return to the shire.

Sharks chief executive Steve Rogers is confident Dykes will walk away from the final year of his deal with the Eels to accept a new three-year contract under Stuart Raper.

For the move to happen, Parramatta chief executive Denis Fitzgerald must agree to the terms of release on the remaining 12 months of Dykes' current deal.

Dykes, 27, has experienced another mixed season with the Eels - he was dumped to Premier League at one stage - and appears uncomfortable at Parramatta.

"I'm pretty confident it's going to happen. It's just a matter of when," Rogers said.

"I was disappointed to lose Adam in the first place. It would be great to get him back again.

"If he gets back to the kind of form we know he's capable of he could prove a real asset.

"I've done everything I can at my end. I can't contract him because obviously he's still at Parramatta.

"We've had discussions with his management and should he be released he'll be returning to the Sharks."

Parramatta football manager Tony Zappia admitted last night that Dykes was interested in returning to the Sharks but said the deal was a long way from being finalised.

Parramatta claim they are waiting for details of the release to be formally tabled by player manager George Mimis, who handles the negotiating for Dykes.

Mimis has confirmed the offer from the Sharks and is in the process of working through fair conditions of release with Parramatta.

"We've had discussions with the Parramatta club in relation to a potential release," Mimis said.

"If the opportunity for Adam to go home to the Sharks in the right circumstances arose he would consider that as an opportunity."

Dykes joined the Eels from the Sharks at the end of season 2001 when he was regarded among rugby league's elite playmakers.

He won the 2001 Dally M five-eighth of the year award after his most consistent season.

Since linking with Parramatta his form has fluctuated.

He has struggled to regularly reach the level of consistency previously displayed in the shire.

Player manager Mimis said he hoped to have the issue resolved by the end of next week."

Strange how the Parramatta football manager states that the deal is a long way from being finalised whereas Dykes manager, George Mimis, says he wants to have the issue resolved by the end of next week!

I wonder which is more accurate?

Excellent coverage for Kimmorly? Are u joking.I would have Kent , Bird , or Sullivan any day!I dont think I will renew my season tickets next year , seriously thats it for 2005 we wont figure in the top eight with Dykes. Very depressing.

BIt over the top you think? Even if he's crap he would be dropped before ruining the season. I usually buy my tickets for each game, if anything, I will be getting season tickets next year, its looking great!

dykes....so many memories...about even with regard to good and bad memories. I have shut out most of those "kick the ball out on the full at the most crucial time of the game" but remember the good times "the 1 point filed goal win over parra back in 2001 in the dieing stages of the game"

What the future may bring? Probally plenty of good and bad memories..... :?
