Dylan Brown - charged sexual touching

Really? This seems pretty clear cut when I read it:

“Under the breach notice, Dylan has been issued a suspension for a total of 7 games, of which 3 games have already been served, together with a $40,000 fine, of which $20,000 has been suspended.”
Sorry yeah it’s the fine reduction that’s been linked to the training requirements

That "setting boundaries" and "able to tell you" very different from needing to give a spouse permission for what they want to wear... which is from where this discussion sprouted.

The original quote was that if his wife went out scantily dressed, "I would let her
obviously, .......".
"I would let her, obviously". But pneuma decided to latch onto that and twist it to mean his wife had to ask permission. For anything. An obvious misrepresentation of what was being said, in order to excitedly preach his pro-feminist ideology - despite the fact that it was out of context.
And, of course, you had to jump on the bandwagon 'cause you're a turnip.

I think the turnips around the world will be disgusted you called him one.

To be honest, I wouldn’t be fighting the fine component of the punishment. That directly impacts him and he deserves it. If anything, I’d ask the NRL to remove the suspended $20k component, fine the merkin $40k and reduce the suspension to 5 games including time served. Wasn’t it the NRL telling us it shouldn’t be the fans that suffer for player stupidity/merkiness? Oh that’s right, that was a Penrith player. That deadshit decision was always going to come back to make them look like idiots.

Vlandys:

“A lot of ex-players look at it through the players' lens, we look at it through everyone's lens. And the most important person now is the fan.”

"Why penalise the Penrith fans for an indiscretion the player did?”

"The person that should be paying the penalty is the player, and they will because they've got two matches and a substantial part of their salary

Thanks, mild Sheik Hilaly!

The reality is, if you put "some" or any blame on Women, it becomes a slippery slope. Alluring attire according to who? Is showing cleavage alluring attire? Is a figure hugging dress but no cleavage alluring attire? Is a tight jeans with a massive badonkadonk alluring attire? Is showing ankles and eyes alluring attire?
Depends what a badonkadonk is, I guess.
And don't pretend you don't know what I mean.

And notice I didn't say 'blame', I said responsibility. Huge difference. That's why I deliberately chose that word. And maybe why you deliberately changed it.

I get the point that you're making (and respect your view)... but I don't think we males can use the excuse of alluring clothing (any more...) to allow us to expect to "sexually touch" someone against their consent.

It's not the 70s or 80s, and times have changed since the old Razzamattaz TV ads.
Absolutely. But the idea that this is 'just a matter of men controlling themselves', is way too simplistic.

No, it's pointing out the various males on here commenting that clothing choice is an excuse for (sexual) touching without consent.

There's not a single post on here that says clothing choice is an "excuse" for sexual touching. See, if you want to discuss issues like this you can't be going around misrepresenting what others say. It happens too much in discussions like this - which is one of the reasons consensus is seldom reached.

Doesn't a discussion involve at least being open to hearing the other person's view before you infer/interpret whatever they said the way you want and then state it as fact?

The club should approach the NRL today, pointing out the decision to allow a Panthers player to play in the final series previously (for the fans), and given the circumstances that the NRL has withdrawn a number of our senior players from our team list this week (for the fans), and we should ask for him to play this weekend (for the fans) and then he serves the remaining 4 matches from next week. This will mean that he will miss the Dragons game instead.

The journos are jumping up and down about how weak the punishment Dylan received was, so i dont think the club will do anything but accept the terms of the breach notice as its a further PR blow to the club to challenge it.

I dont want our club to be asking to financially penalise our players .... i dont think that will result in club harmony
