Early tip: Sandow won't see out his contract

Kelly's shown nothing that Sandow hasn't. Only that his long kicking game isn't as good, he is less threatening when he runs the ball, and that he defends better.

I agree.

I'd say I only have two crocuses of Chris:

(1) not getting enough repeat sets (which is hard);

(2) not running the ball enough.

Otherwise, I think he has been good. He certainly can create spark in our attack.

He's lacked any creativity when attacking the opposition's line IMO. He always looks lost and ends up getting the ball and then just passing inside to a forward for another hit up. On too many occasions we get tackled on the last which is just poor organization (cue Poupou).

couldn't disagree more

he has shown organisational skills that Sandow hasn't and he has a much superior kicking game that normally finds turf father than the fullbacks throat

What is he organising? His organisation does not seem to result in points. Last week it was Ben Roberts side of the field that scored. The week before no points were scored. The week before that he got an intercept.

His long kicking game is not as good as Sandow's. I know 40/20s aren't the be all and end all but they are very tough to kick. Has Kelly ever kicked one?

If he has future at the Eels I could only ever see him being a 14, as he is not a No 7 for us. Even an average no 7 like Kelly has proven that, and before someone blames our pack, Kelly is playing behind the same crappy pack.

Then the question has to be asked, should we be paying a No 14 half a million a year ?

I think if a 14 can provide 2-3 tries every week they're worth $550k. Can he provide 2-3 every week as a 14 is the question.

If Ben Roberts can't, how could Sandow?

Sandow has to either play in the halves (in first grade) or f**k off out of the club. I suspect Sticky has decided on the latter.

Can he even play hooker?

Well my thoughts of him is a 14 is not to come on and be a dummy half but more of replace the random role that Joseph Paulo plays. Ive heard Peats will be an 80 minute player anyway.

I said in another thread I think we need to go to one central halfback next year and have Hayne and Norman player 2nd and 3rd receivers on both sides of the field. Having Sandow as another floating player to come on and change the game plan a bit, playing an individual instinctive type role..

this is the thing about sandow (apart from his defence) that irks me. on those rare occassions when we get into field position where the forwards can't take us forward or do much else, ie. within 15m of the opposition line, chris has taken some very poor options or poorly executed (and this isn't just his fault) a good option.

Kelly's organisational skills have obviously resulted in our attack being so much more potent :sarcasm:

We already have one. Luke Kelly.

Don't get me wrong cause I genuinely like Kelly and some of the stuff he does, but he isn't a patch on an in-form Sandow IMO.

The challenge Ricky and the coaching staff face at the moment is to get Sandow back into the form he is capable of. Sure, Kelly may do as a backup until that time, but he is not as dynamic a half back as Sandow and when we have a stable influencing half next year (in Norman) then we will need Sandow at his best and not Kelly.

Of course the above is just my opinion however I am yet to see anything that suggests Stuart is trying to off-load Sandow.
